Awesome again Karen! I loved this episode and I cannot wait for the one tonight! It was awesome and I'm hoping H is soooo worried for Calleigh and if they find her it'd be nice to see him very happy and such. He is so caring and whatnot and I loved how they did the Rio past, it was great!
By the way, how awesome was it to see Horatio back in the lab working AND in a lab coat? Pretty sexy and awesome, right? =) We need more of that.

Well.....................once again I was very disappointed in the episode. The scenes in Brazil left alot to be desired. I really did so much enjoy the Calleigh storyline. More so the oh sooooooo touching scene between E/C at the end when Eric told Calleigh he didn't know what he would've done if something had happened to her. I thought my heart was gonna stop.
I was really hoping for some closure between H/J/R but................hopefully TPTB will have something down the road but I won't hold my breath. Hated that Yelina was just in one shot of the show. Makes me soooooooooooo mad. Sorry Karen for jumping the gun but wanted to post while it was still fresh in my mind but I know you'll do a superb job as always.

Hey Sharon! I know how you feel. The ending for me was good with E/C but it didn't show much closure for Horatio and all..I was hoping to see Ray and Julia or something and I was hoping to see H comforting Calleigh a little...that would have been nice and I was upset that Yelina was only showed once....that was very bad....and i loved how when the guy took Calleigh to the poker game, he was surprised to see Eric, Frank and Ryan. That was great! Good to see Horatio in a lab coat again! He's bringing sexy back! Well, he's always had it lol. ;D by the way, what is TPTB? Is it true that this was the season finale because I sure hope not! It was a good episode! Loved it. And sorry to Karen! I just wanted to give my small opinion before leaving! -Sharon 2

Part II: Chief Braga of the Rio Police Dept. has led Horatio into an ambush. As H leaves his place, he takes the gun that the plolice chief provided. About a dozen men show up in what appears to be a rainforest type setting. They take aim on H, but he is too fast for them --- all of them. His aim is true, while their aim always misses, and he kills about a dozen members of the Mala Noche gang. As the last gangster crawls towards a machette, Horatio fires off one more round, saying "Mala Noche justice meet Miami justice." Then faster than a speeding bullet, Super H boards a plane (more powerful than a locomotive) and he leaps from Rio to Miami in a single bound where Eric is at the airport to meet him. Delko informs him of Calleigh's abduction and they immediately go to the scene where Frank is examining the Hummer. H actually works the scene, pulling a bullet from the door of the vehicle. Frank recalls Calleigh is armed and wouldn't go without putting up a fight. As H leaves, Frank asks Eric "What do you think happened in Brazil?" "I don't know," replies Eric, "I'm just glad he's back."
Ryan tells Natalia chloroform was used again just like in the Newberry case, leading H to question Ron, Julia's "friend", once again. Ron rubs it in to H saying he and Julia are back together again.
Calleigh awakens in a basement looking at a body on the floor. Poker buddies, Seth and Tommy, captured her because they need her help getting rid of the evidence so responsibility for the murder doesn't lead back to them. Calleigh sends Tommy out for a list of "groceries" so she can get rid of clues. This reminds me of how McGyver used to adapt common household things to help him escape. (Sorry if someone here does not know that series). She removes the bullet from the body and asks Seth to smoke his cigar because it masks the smell of decaying flesh.
Horatio meets Julia and Kyle coming out of their house with Ron's drycleaning. She wasn't expecting to see him but tells H she thought he had a better chance at survival in Brazil than he did in Miami. H tells her she and Kyle will die if they stay with Ron.
While Tommy is out, Seth makes a move on Cal who has a few good moves of her own. He's stronger, though, and when he points a gun to her head, she quickly says "I don't think you killed that poker player."
Tommy returns with items Cal needs to determine death which turns out to be arsenic poisoning. But she tells Seth he could still be charged with attempted murder even if the bullet was post-mortem. They usher her to a car because she has also revealed that the basement was not where the murder occurred.
Cooper seeks out Eric in an attempt to help, giving him a piece of string from the Newberry car. He thinks this might help find Calleigh. Eric calls Ryan sending him to the tow yard where he stops a guy from cleaning the tow truck and does, indeed, find another piece of that string. "Bingo," he says.
This leads to another encounter between Ron and H as the string is from a shoestring matching one on his shoe. Ron lawyers up but not before he threatens to tell the state's attorney that Horatio beat him up. He smashes his head on the table, giving himself a black eye. Horatio is not worried. (Don't all interrogation rooms have cameras and sound systems in them?)
Eric and Ryan look for and find a bullet in the Hummer door. This is traced to a poker player who lost everything in an underground game. He provides this address of the old factory building where game was held. Eric and H find the body there but not Calleigh and her captors. They smell bleach and H assumes that is why they need Calleigh --- to get rid of evidence. But Eric finds too many fingerprints --- 60 in all. 60 is code for a two-man police unit so H reasons out that she left in a car with two men. (Obvious, huh?) The owner of the old factory, Mitch Davis, meets with the guys and when H tells him of the underground poker game, he asks "Am I supposed to build a moat to keep people out?" H says he could start with a security camera.
Meanwhile Calleigh continues to work the murder scene. She separates her two captors and tells Tom he is not in as deep as his friend and he should turn himself in to the authorities. She uses shavings from a lead pencil to get his prints so she can eliminate him as a suspect. Meanwhile, Alexx now has the body and she, too, finds arsenic toxicity. She also finds a clue in the cigar stub that Calleigh poked into the wound. It is Seth's DNA on the cigar. Tom turns himself in to H and provides the address where Seth and Calleigh were when he left. They no longer are there, but Eric sees a picture of old factory owner, Mitch Davis and the unlucky poker player who lost big.(Can't remember his name --- sorry.) Eric grills him, but Mitch says he didn't know his former friend was using his building.
Seth now wants Calleigh to help him rob a really big poker game. He holds a gun on her to get her cooperation.
H is back in the lab working the fingerprint brush to get prints off the flask (Yes, he is in a lab coat again!) This leads back to the poor loser who says the dead guy flaunted his winnings and poked fun at him for being such a poor poker player. He claims it was concern about his family that led him to poison the drink as he was sure he could win again if that guy wasn't in the game. But he didn't take a drink until after the game and the arsenic caused him to have a heart attack. He was the one who fired rounds into the Hummer but he freaked when he saw the CSI decals. Wrong car. Bummer.
Natalia and Horatio go to house where H once again finds clues. Using baking soda and grape juice to make invisible ink, Calleigh provided address of their destination --- Club Decent at 6 pm they learn. At the door, Calleigh hollers, "CSI" and gets someone to open the door. There is a poker game going on all right --- Frank, Eric and Ryan holding guns on Seth. He in turn says he will shoot Calleigh if they don't drop their weapons but You Know Who appears behind him with a gun of his own. Cal makes a move, giving H a chance to grab Seth and she says "You messed with the wrong people."
Nice scene between Eric and Calleigh when it is time to leave. Cal tells him she is not scared and will just go home by herself. Eric in turns tells her that he worried about something happening to her today and he really needs to come home with her. She gives him the loveliest smile and tells him okay. OKAY!
Final scene is of a contented H watching from the back stairs as officers lead all the perps away to jail to await their trials.

Unless they decided to wait on the other eps till next season & I hadn't heard about it. ;D I agree no closure whatsoever on any of it. Well........as always something was left up in the air. Hopefully they'll be closure for all this soon. ;D We can always hope I guess. ;D Mrs Karen fantastic review as always. You always do an outstanding job. Sharon (1)

Am I the only one that actually enjoyed the episodes? The only thing I didn't like was Julia >.>;; And does this woman have any more clothes? The past two eps she's been in the same dress and this one was no exeption. Karen, thanks for the review.

Great review, Karen. Looks like the part with Calleigh is the strongest part of the whole story. Can't wait to see it over here, but as they started reruns just yesterday, I guess it will take a LOOOOOONG time for that to happen Sandra

Actually, I liked the episode, but it is probably because I have learned to look at this show with a "tongue in cheek" attitude. Horatio was very much "over the top" in Rio; it is as though he is wearing an invisible Kevlar suit. I have also changed my expectations over the years: 1.) I no longer look for a romance between H and Yelina. Actually I do not look for a romance between Horatio and anyone for quite awhile. 2.) I think Ray, Jr. has gone the way of Madison. If we see them again it will be in a quick "wrap-up the loose ends" kind of way at the end of the series, like glimpsing them as they attend H's funeral (heaven forbid!). 3.) I do not expect to see Ryan with his uncle as was set up in his earlier appearances and I do not expect Calleigh's father to show up again. I do expect to see more of Horatio and am beginning to think he will return to a variation of what he was in the first 3 seasons. He may not give up the dark suits, but perhaps he will take off his jacket now and then. (Loved the return of the lab coat). I think the writers will placate each actor by centering at least one story-line around them, like this one centered on Emily's character. But the rest will all be Horatio. I think TPTB know who puts the frosting on their cake --- and it's not the hunks, or the cleavage gals, or sweet-talking Alexx, or even the science. It's Caruso all the way! That's what I think, anyway. Karen Am I the only one that actually enjoyed the episodes? The only thing I didn't like was Julia >.>;; And does this woman have any more clothes? The past two eps she's been in the same dress and this one was no exeption. Karen, thanks for the review.

I LOVED this episode. My jaw was on the floor after the opening scene in Rio. Was it 'realistic'? No. Did it need to be? No. Did it blow me away? YES! I was literally screaming at the TV when I was watching it. That is now, without question, my favorite shoot out in franchise history. And 'Mala Noche Justice, meet Miami Justice' is now my favorite one-liner. I also loved when Eric said, "You made it," to H and H replied, "Yeah, but a lot of people didn't." I thought the line was delivered very well, without a hint of cheese.
I don't see what's NOT to like with this episode. My only complaint is the promo pic with E/R/F at the poker table--if I hadn't seen it, the surprise at the end would have been much more rewarding. I think TPTB spoiled the fun with that, but it was still great. Loved how H (as usual) came out of nowhere to put his gun behind the punk's head.
No, there wasn't much closure for H, but there wasn't supposed to be. Elizabeth Berkeley is signed on for, I believe, at least 6 of the 8 episodes. She and Kyle will probably continue to be an important part of the season. I doubt we'll get closure with them for a little while. And I'm not complaining--I think the show is far more interesting with them in it than without them.

oh my I just loved the last 2 nights. I screamed both nights when H was in the lab that my poor mother thought I was in a lot of pain. Ooopppsss! I just got done watching it for the 2nd time today. I did kind of half to laugh as H was shooting all the Mala Noche gang members. While he was doing that, I was wondering when he was going to run out of bullets. Marianne

@ Marianne: It must have been a magical gun with a never ending supply of ammo and perhaps that dark suit has been treated with Bullet Repellent Spray!
