Ah, Horatio the tourist. Makes me wish for a trip abroad for him and his crew. Never even heard of that Tea House, Margaret. Nice to know Italians aren't the only ones who build things on a slant!
Quick story --- totally off topic: In 1978 I toured Europe with my daughter and her French Club. We were standing on part of the Windsor Castle wall overlooking the playing fields of Eaton when all of a sudden all the kids started running the opposite direction. I'm thinking they spied the Queen as the flag said she was in residence so I tore after them as fast as I could. I caught up with them just in time to see the SST jet take of from the nearby airport (Heathrow??). Should have known those kids would not have moved that fast for royalty!

This is very, very simple. Horatio looking at Suomelinna (the Castle of Finand). Suomenlinna has been through a lot... the building began in 1748 while Finland was part of Sweden. In 1808 the Russians took over because we gave in and Finland became part of Russia in 1809. In 1855 the british and french were fighting agains Russia which meant gunning the "castle" with guns from their ships. The history goes on and on. Ace

@ Ace........this is beautiful......will show hubby this one.....he has been reading a lot about Finland lately. @ Karen........that story is hilarious.......I can just see you running as fast as you could only to be stopped in your tracks by an aircraft. This one is for Michelle. For those that have never visited York this is a city surrounded by a wall and the picture top( middle) is the top of York Minster Cathedral as seen from the top of the wall. You can walk the wall right round the city. The two top pictures left and right are tower gates you walk through to the inner city. Margaret

Just couldn't resist..... I still had one of the pics in photobucket.... Now I have to go find the rest...... Lucy H outside the Mosta Dome.... One of the largest churches on the island.... and one of the biggest free standing domes in the world.....

Nice one Ace! Love the almost-shadow of The Man overlooking the castle. The "Grand Ol' Duke of York" is looking good Margaret!. Lucy & Karen, my first thought was also of the contrast between old and new! All great pieces, fun to see!

i know i've already included this one in the stained glass challenge but i thought it would also be fitting in this one as well, being as Lincoln is my home town. yesterday, me and alisha went to Nottingham for the day to do some shopping/retail therapy. when i got home late last night, i had a brilliant idea of not only bringing horatio and gang to nottingham but also put them back in time. i have turned them all into Robin Hood and his Merry Men. the bodies i have used are the characters from the BBC production of Robin Hood. here are the fruits of my labour! and just for a bit of fun, i thought Robin Hood was a wanted man so i thought, so is our man.... hope you enjoyed my creations! i've had alot of fun making these ones! luv sam x

Gee, Sam, think of what Ridley Scott could have done if he had just asked for your help! These are great, by the way.
