Love Is…
As the alarm rang out, Horatio turned over and turned it off. It was 5 o’clock in the morning. He sat up and looked around, as usual, it was quiet with just him rattling around the place on his own. He threw off the covers and went into his bathroom for a shower. He walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. No-one was around to see him walking around so he went downstairs to put on the coffee machine and turned on the radio. He would have turned the television on but he knew that he would be too tempted to sit and watch it but he had to get ready for work. He took out his iron and ironing board to iron his blue shirt. He hadn’t got round to doing the ironing as he’d been too busy at the lab. When he’d finished ironing his shirt, he wandered back upstairs and chose a navy blue suit to go with his shirt. He put on his pants and was just about to put on his freshly ironed shirt when his phone rang. He looked at the phone, he recognised the number for some reason but couldn’t think why. Curiously, he answered it. “Lieutenant Horatio Caine.” The voice on the other side of the phone melted his heart. “Yelina, how are you? Is everything okay?” Yelina confirmed everything was fine and wanted to meet him for breakfast before he went to work. “Sure, any particular reason?” All that she replied was that she had some news for him. They arranged a meeting place and time. When he hung up, put on his shirt and jacket and ran downstairs. He poured his coffee and drank half of it before grabbing his keys to his hummer.
Horatio’s mind was all over the place, he’d always held a soft spot for his brother’s wife but never dared do anything about these feelings he had. Besides, it would be too complicated to have any relationship with Yelina. There was Ray Jr to think of as well as Kyle. They would freak out at the thought of their parents getting together, especially Ray Jr. He’d always looked up to his uncle and for him to be dating his mother probably wouldn’t go down very well. Horatio arrived at his destination and parked up.
As he walked in, the tall, dark haired woman dressed in a pair of jeans and a pale green strap top stood up. “Horatio, it’s great to see you,” it was Yelina. Horatio’s heart skipped a beat. “Yelina, it’s great to see you again. At least it’s not business this time,” Horatio chuckled as he sat down with Yelina, “so what’s going on?” The waitress came over to take their orders. “I will have a bagel with scrambled eggs with orange juice please,” Yelina was feeling quite hungry. “I’ll have the same thanks but with a coffee,” Horatio remembered that he didn’t finish off his coffee before leaving his place to rush here. The waitress wrote down the order and went off to get it ready. Horatio tilted his head and lifted his eyes up to look at Yelina.

I like Yelina! (Or at least I used to...) I do hope she's the other half of this story! And to contradict Gonsy a bit! There's no way inside this little head of mine in which I can imagine Horatio ironing! lol Great start, Sam! Anastasia

Mhm.. I'm keeping my mouth shut about Yelina, so I will come straight to the man wearing only a towel... ;D Now that's what I call a nice image and I wouldn't mind seeing that on the show. I mean we already had to see Eric walking around like this why not H? Jess

Mmmm.....don't think that will be Yelina at the door. The someone knocking at the door I think is going to be a surprise and Yelina is already here in the opening chapter. I would go along with Jess and her images on this one.

(HURRAH) luv sam x
“You still haven’t answered my question. What’s going on?” “Don’t look at me like that Horatio, nothing is wrong, I have some good news.” Horatio sat up and looked curiously at Yelina, “oh, and what’s that?” Yelina took a deep breath, “well, Ray got into University of Miami School of Law. So we are in the process of moving back to Miami.” Horatio’s eyes widened and a grin crept across his face, “that’s great news! Why didn’t you tell me about this before? I could have helped sort things out on this end ready for you to move over.” “I didn’t want to trouble you. I know you are so busy…” Yelina looked at Horatio who was looking back at her with a serious look on his face, “what’s that look for?” “You and Ray Junior are no trouble for me at all, you know that. I may be busy but I will always have time for my family.” “I know but you’ve done so much for us. Anyway, it’s all sorted. We’re moving in today. We have got a place down near Palm Beach. Here’s the address,” Yelina got out a pen and some paper from her purse and wrote down the address and passed it to Horatio. “Thank you. I will come round later to see how things are going,” he folded the paper and put it in his jacket pocket, “so why has Ray chosen law? I thought he’d have had enough of law enforcement.” “I was surprised at his choice as well but he said that he wanted to go into law. He didn’t want to be a cop like us, so he chose to go down the lawyer route. He wanted to study in Florida, not Brazil. He looked at Miami and he decided it was for him. He did grow up here and he knows the area and has friends and family here.” The waitress came and put their drinks on the table. Yelina thanked the waitress as she walked off to sort out their food. Horatio leaned towards Yelina, “how is this being funded? I don’t want you to end up in debt.” “Don’t worry about that Horatio. Raymond left money to Ray Junior for college so he’s using that. I have also been putting money in a college fund for him. It will cover the tuition fees for the duration.” “If you need any help at all concerning the funds, you let me know, okay?” “Horatio, we’ll be fine on that matter.” Horatio gave Yelina a concerned look, “I mean it Yelina, I don’t want you to struggle at all.” She gave Horatio a reluctant sigh, “okay, but I can assure you, we’ll be fine.” The waitress brought their food over to them, “is there anything else you need?” Horatio shook his head, “that will be fine thanks.” The waitress walked off to serve the next customer. “Horatio, thank you.” “What for?” “Everything. We really owe a lot to you. I don’t know how we could have got through everything without you.” Horatio smiled, “you owe me nothing,” he placed his hand on Yelina’s, “I will always be there for the both of you.” “I know,” Yelina moved her hand and picked up her knife and fork, “let’s eat our breakfast before it goes cold.” They both sat and ate their breakfasts together.

So, Law school huh? Nice choice, Ray! Even though his uncle can be a bit harsh to lawyers from time to time!
And Yelina close to Horatio! Good!
BTW, Horatio in only a towel could do other things than ironing... oh well back to dreamland! lol

Nice chapter Sam. Makes a change to have Horatio and Yelina back together in a storyline. And, immediately, Horatio shows his concern. Love the man.

Mhm.. Yelina back in Miami.. (probably) good for Horatio, since he has his family back.. It's a good thing that Ray doesn't want to follow his parents and his uncle. He had seen what costs this may have, so becoming a lawyer is a good compromise. He can still fight for justice then.

I'm just now caught up, Sam.
Glad to see that Ray has decided to become a Lawyer. Although, no, he's not choosing to be a cop like his parents and his Uncle, he's still going into the family business of the 'Law'.
Great job, Sam. Can't wait to see what happens next.
