I'm really addicted to this story. Horatio has been more a father to Josey for the last days, than her own dad ever was. At least that's what I think. So cute that they have admitted their feelings for each other. I'm sure Horatio will get THEIR Josey back. Can't wait for the next chapter. ;D

Today is my birthday and I went and found the muse and wrote another chapter for my friends. ENjoy as always. I will see if I can get another one out today.
Chapter FOURTEEN
An Amber Alert was issued within minutes of the abduction of Josephine Jackson by her father because of the shooting of the police officer. The Amber Alert net was not just city wide but state wide.
Justin Jackson was now wanted not only for smuggling narcotics but also in connection with the dinner robberies and the shooting of a police officer. His two buddies were also one the FBI most wanted list. They were also be hunted by the US Army for their action in connection with the smuggling and faking of Justin Jackson death.
Horatio’s team was in the middle of all of this because their lab was the best in the southwest. Their closure rate was one of the highest in the nation. Even though Horatio himself was out of the lab due the accident he was still being kept in the loop.
He had persuaded Ellen to go home with Calleigh for the night. She agreed if she could only because Calleigh agreed to bring her back to the hospital the next morning on her way into the lab. Before she left him she walked back to his bedside and looked into his eyes and then said. “Remember what you promised me.” He smiled and touched her cheek. “That was a promise to my self as well as you.”
Somewhere on the outskirts of the Everglades in a rundown motel sat Justin, Mike and Jake. Josephine was asleep on the bed. The three men were arguing because of the previous nights activities.
“Why did you have to grab the kid now?” Mike was walking the floor from one side of the small room to the other. “We got not only the Army looking for us now, but the FBI and the whole d--m Miami Police Force.”
Justine walked over to the cooler that sat by the window. He opened it and pulled out two things. A beer and a package wrapped tightly with plastic and duct tape, it was about the size of a brick. He held up the brick and turned to the other two men. “Our buyer will be here tomorrow and we leave for Cuba. As far as my daughter is concerned, I wasn’t leaving her behind.”
The next day after Calleigh had dropped Ellen back at the hospital and checked on her boss’s progress she headed into the lab. She was the second in command and now she had to take over while Horatio was in the hospital. She walked into the lab to find that both Eric and Natalia had arrived before her. They were working on the evidence collected the night before in the garage of the hospital.
Shortly after she arrived Ryan Wolf came in and close on his hills was Sgt Rick Stetler. Ryan went to find Calleigh as soon as he walked into the lab.
He found her walking down the hall on her way to ballistics with the bullet that Alexx had been able to retrieve from Officer Adam’s body.
“Calleigh I want to help with this one. I know that I’m not completely cleared yet, but these guys made it personal when they killed Ben Adams. He was a friend.”
Calleigh looked at the young man that stood before her. She thought for just a split second, long enough for Stetler to make an appearance. “Mr. Wolf you still have cases to go through and detail with IAD before you are allowed back into the good graces of this or any other lab.”
Calleigh stepped around Ryan and looking Stetler in the eyes she said. “You know I would think IAD would have better things to do than chase ghost. We have a fellow officer laying in the morgue and one in the hospital because of this case. A better use of yours and Mr. Wolf’s time would be spent in running down some of the leads that have come into the switchboard. Most of them are dead ends but we need to check them all. So why don’t you and Mr. Wolf take a few of them and run them down?”
Stetler looked at her for a moment and smiled. “I think that Horatio Cain will not approve of me working in his lab. So I will accept the offer. Mr. Wolf it would seem that we will be working together on this one.”
Shortly after Stetler and Wolf left with some of the information leads that had come in the night before Calleigh received a call from Horatio. She gave him an update of what was going on in the lab and then she gave him the news of Stetler and Wolf working together on running down leads that had come in. To her surprise H began to chuckle and then laugh. “I hope they find something. But I have a filling that you gave them the leads that were least likely to go anywhere.”
Calleigh laughed as well as she told him that she had text Ryan that these leads were just that. “I sent an apology, but we have to check them out. He text back that he loved getting out of the lab and taking Sgt. Stetler on a wild goose chase was a pleasure he would take over sitting in that room for another day.”

I got that muse of mine to work double time today. Enjoy as always.
Chapter FIFTEEN
Ellen could only see and hear Horatio’s side of the conversation. When he hung up he was still chuckling at the thought of Stetler doing foot duty for his lab. He looked at her and held out his hand she took the few steps to his side and he pulled her to him.
She was careful not to put pressure on the traction lines that were attached to him helping his back begin to slide disc back into line. Horatio’s doctor knowing how he felt was trying to keep him out of surgery. The continued injuries to his back had become serious. This was the last thing to try before surgery would be necessary to correct his spine.
He held her close and nuzzling her neck told her what the phone call was about. “I know that you are not free from your marriage but you are sure that it is over?” Ellen nodded yes but just looked into his blue eyes. Then she bent to give him a light kiss, but that isn’t what the kiss stayed. When they pulled apart they both knew that the feelings they had for each other were the same.
Ryan and Rick were at their third house and talking with yet another former Army trooper and getting the same information about Justin and his two friends. Bad seeds but nothing that was going to help the actual case. As they were leaving Stetler took hold of Ryan’s arm and pulled him around to face him. “I’ am getting the filling that someone has been sent on a wild goose chase.”
Ryan smiled and replied. “These are just a few of the calls that came in last night and all of them have to be checked out and put to bed weather they are helpful to the case or not doesn’t matter. The footwork has to be done.”
They walked slowly back to Stetler’s car and as he turned the ignition key he smiled. “I think that Horatio is having the last laugh on me.” He looked over at Ryan. “Give me the next address on the list. I agreed to help and let you in the field so let’s do the foot work. I just hope we both have good leather on the soles of our shoes.”
The next stop that they made was just a little different from the last ones. This one was to Mrs. Jackson. She told them that she had received a call from her son. “I realized he had shot that police officer when he took Josephine. He wasn’t always a bad person.” She started to ring her hands.
Ryan spoke up before Stetler could. “We understand that Mrs. Jackson, but your call said that he had contacted you. When was this?”
“Before he took Josey, he called me to find out where that woman he married had taken his child. I told him that she left with a cop. A police officer. I didn’t remember his name but he had red hair and he was in charge of the robbery that happened at the dinner she was working at.”
Ryan was writing down information in a note pad. Stetler spoke up next. “Have you heard from him since?”
“No. He hasn’t called, but I think he may have gone to his Uncle Joe’s old motel out by the everglades.” She looked from one to the other of the men. “He knows the area and he would be able to get in without any problems.” She again looked from one man to the other. “Can you get my Josey back?”
Ryan looked up from his note book. “We will do our best to get the little girl safely back with her mother.”
This seemed to anger Mrs. Jackson. “That woman doesn’t deserve to have her. She is nothing but a . . . a . . . Well, I can’t even think of a nice thing to say about her.”
They stayed long enough to get the location of the old motel that the Uncle Joe had owned. As soon as they got back in the car Ryan got on the radio and called the information into the dispatch.

OK here it comes. You guys better get ready for a sit down on this one. I have had my good music playing as I wrote it. As always enjoy.
Chapter SIXTEEN
Uncle Joe’s old motel was going to get hot really quick. The 3 men who had taken a room to wait for their contact were getting ready for the meeting.
Justin looked in on his daughter. She was still asleep, which was good. She had been crying for her mother the night before. She had cried until she finely went to sleep. Justin thought that he was doing the right thing when he had taken her, but maybe he should have taken Ellen too. That was too late now. He would just have to make Josey understand that her mother was never going to be with them.
“Well, boss; their late hope they don’t decide to not show.”
Justin closed the door to where his daughter lay and turned to Mike. “They will be here. The boat is just over in the next cove from here. I saw it last night.”
About that time they heard the sound of a boat motor as it came closer. As it got to the dock they heard it shut off.
On the opposite side of the motel was the staging area for the Army, FBI and MDPD. They were starting to spread out to surround the motel as the boat pulled up to the dock. Word was sent down the line to be careful as the little girl Josephine was thought to be in the motel. They began to move forward and tighten their circle.
Back at the hospital Horatio and Ellen knew that the team was converging on the motel. Horatio medical condition had kept him from going but he had persuaded Calleigh into giving him a raid link so that he could fallow the raid. It sat on the night stand beside his bed. Ellen sat on the edge of his bed holding his hand. Both waiting to here how the encounter went; hoping that with all their hearts that Josephine would come out of it unharmed.
So much happened at the same moment that the exact cause of the fire was never known. The boat had just put into the dock when the first shot was fired. This too was lost as to who had fired it. The men in the boat began to fire in all directions. The three men that had just left the motel room ran back inside. The officials began to return fire at both the motel and the boat. Sometime during the commotion a fire started in an empty room that was just down from where Justin had taken refuge with his daughter. He had gotten separated from the other two men in his party. When he had gotten into the room he had put Josephine in the bathtub and covered her with a mattress and bedding from the bed. He then pushed the remaining furnishings of the room against the door. He began to fire his weapon out the window.
As the smoke began to bellow out of the end of the motel wing that he had taken refuge in he could not see the fire but he could fill the heat from the next room and he knew that it was getting close. There wasn’t time to unblock the door. His mind began to race with the options open for him and his daughter. There was no way out for him but maybe he could get Josephine out.
He ran to the bathroom and looked at the small window. The room was beginning to fill with smoke. Yes, it was large enough to slide her through it.
Ryan was standing beside Rick when the fire broke out. He watched as the first flames began to appear. He turned his head and took one look at Sgt. Stetler and then he holstered his gun and began to run toward the building. He had seen the room the Justin had taken shelter in with the small child. Somehow he reached the side of the building without being shot by either side. His mind racing at the possible places that the little girl could be put for protection, making some calculations he started to move down the side of the building that would be considered the back. This is where he could see was where the bathroom windows were. He counted them to determine which window went with the room that held Justin. Just a few steps behind him was Rick Stetler; shouting at him that he was a d**n fool and going to get both of them killed.
Calleigh, Eric, Natalia and Frank were on the opposite side of the building from where Ryan was and did not see the fire until it was burning out of control. Calleigh began to yell for everyone to stop firing. She was joined by the rest of the team as they looked on in horror as another part of the motel caught fire and began to burn. Both the leaders of the Army and FBI began to shout a cease fire as they realized the motel was on fire.
The men in the boat had managed to restart their boat engine and pull away from the dock only to be met by official boats from the MDPD, FBI, US Coast Guard and the US Army. They exit effectively being blocked by the agencies.
