Yeah indeed, love the part where Horatio's hair gets messed up and it doesn't sound very good if they won't laugh for a while ........ Great chapter, thanks Manon

What I said before about sitting down to read still applies. But then I have a feeling this whole story will be this way.
Chapter 4
Janet lay in bed but wasn’t able to sleep. She understood that her parents were dead. They were never coming back. What she didn’t understand was why Thomas and she couldn’t choose who they wanted to live with. Her young mind raced through all the nice people that they had met before coming here. As she lay there her little legs begin to twitch and she decided that if she were quiet she could walk in her room. So she got out of bed. She looked over at Thomas to be sure that she had not awakened him. No, he was still asleep. She began to walk about the room in her bear feet so as not to wake her aunt up. At some point in this little walk of hers she found herself at the window looking out at the garage and that is when she saw him.
He was there in the shadows, watching the house. She watched him and just as she was getting tired of watching him he began to move toward the house. She went to the bedroom door and down the hall to the back stairs that led to the kitchen. She heard the back door open and close very quietly. She waited at the head of the narrow stairs and listened. She heard him move into the living room and could tell that he had not turned on any lights.
She knew that this man was a bad man and that he was up to no good coming into the house so quietly and not turning on any lights. So she crept down the stairs to the kitchen and picked up the phone and looking at the card she held in her hands dialed. She heard the other phone ring and then he answered.
“Caine here.” Horatio hadn’t looked at the caller ID. No one would be calling him at the time of night unless it was business then he heard Janet’s little voice.
“There’s a bad man in the house. He is going upstairs. I think he wants to hurt us. Can you come? You said that if I ever need anything to call.”
At first Horatio was a bit shocked to hear her voice but then he realized that she probably was having a bad dream and that she was unfamiliar with her aunt and felt he could help with the dream. As he was about to say something the line went dead. “Hello, Janet . . . Janet. . .” There was no answer. He looked at the caller ID and hit his call back button. The phone rang but instead of being answered by someone in the house the operator message came on to say that the phone was temporarily out of order. He looked over at Gideon and Jacque then he asked. “Would it be too much to have the Alexandria police to check on a house and get back to me?”
Gideon looked at Horatio and replied. “Anything to do with the two children from the plane?”
Horatio nodded. “I think they may have an intruder in the house.” He stood there looking down at his phone in his right hand and his left hand was on his hip.
Gideon walked over to a phone and picked up the receiver and dialed a number. “Yes, this is Agent Jason Gideon of the FBI could I have a patrol car check on a house we believe there may have been a break in and it would still be in progress. There are young children in the house and the phone is not connecting.” He paused for a few seconds. “No I will hold.”
Back at the house Janet was looking up at the man that had come in a few minutes before. He had pulled the phone line out of the wall. She began to back up very slowly. “Who did you call?” His voice sounded funny and she didn’t answer him. He reached out and grabbed her by the hair. “I asked you a question. You will answer it now or I will slit your throat.”
Janet said the first thing that came to her mind. “My daddy.” And then she began to cry.
“Stop that.” He hissed as he jerked her head by her hair.
Of course this made her start to really cry and she could tell that seemed to upset him so she screamed. “Momma! Momma!”
Frances sat up in bed. What was that? Then she heard Janet screams from downstairs. She reached for her nightstand to switch on the light. It didn’t come on. That was odd. She got out of bed just as Janet began to yell. “He’s not my daddy. He’s not my daddy.”
She went to the door and listened. She was in the kitchen. Frances went to the back stairs and started down. What on earth was wrong with that child? Then as she was about to get to the bottom of the stairs she heard his voice.
“I said be quiet.” Then she heard him slap Janet. She stopped screaming and said very quietly. “My daddy is going to get you. He is a policeman with the Miami Dade Police Department.” This statement was a bit of a shock to both Francis and the man. But the man acted first. And roughly put Janet in a chair. Then he tied her up and put a rag in her mouth. “I don’t want to hear nothing more from you. As for your daddy, well my frog couldn’t catch me and I don’t think he can either.”
Francis had heard enough and was already back up the stairs and in her bedroom. She didn’t even try the house phone. She went straight to her purse and pulled out her Blackberry. She dialed 911. She recognized the accent as English. What was an Englishman doing in her house in the middle of the night slapping her niece? Up to no good that was for sure.
The patrol car that had been sent because of Gideon’s call had just turned onto Francis’s street when the radio cracked with “Car 84 we have a call from that house that there is an intruder there and he has taken a child as a hostage.” Officer Vincent Piggot flipped the switch for lights and sirens and pressed his foot down on the accelerator as he picked up the mike for the radio and replied. “Dispatch I am going in with lights and sirens. Send back up.”

Maybe this isn't the best story that I have ever done. It is awfully dark and seems to fill up with some dark happenings. I don't feel that you guys like the way it is going either. I am going to see how the next chapter is received. I will probably have it ready for post sometime this evening. I have to go to church now. Maybe takeing my muse to church will give it a brighter out look and change the tone of the story. I am really trying not to write another lover interest for Horatio. We all know they is just to sexy.

Exactly. We aren't going to pressure you if you are busy. but at least you know that you will have eager readers waiting for you when you are ready.
But how on earth are we going to keep you're muse under control? She seems rather mischievious.

She is at that. But I think I have got her under control and will be able to finish the story. In the mean time I have got you another chapter. Enjoy.
Chapter 5
The man heard the sirens of the patrol cars as they started coming down the block. He cursed under his breath and putting his face close to Janet’s he whispered to her. “I will be back and I will get you and your baby brother and the b---h that lives here. As for your daddy I’m no more afraid of him than my little frog.” And he left by the back door.
He hadn’t been gone long when the patrol car pulled into the drive way with Officer Piggot. He got out and was headed for the door when the second patrol car pulled up. He reached the front door and began to pound on it. “Arlington Police! Is there anyone there?!”
He pounded on the door again and was about to kick it in when Francis opened the door. “He went out the back. Thank you for coming so quickly.”
Officer Piggot yelled to the second patrol man that the intruder had gone out the back door and to go after him. He hit his shoulder mike and told dispatch the same information so that the other cars in the area could be on the look out for him, then he followed Francis into the house and into the kitchen.
There in a kitchen chair sat Janet. She was still tied up and had the rag in her mouth. Officer Piggot went over to her. “Honey I am going to cut the ropes off of you as soon as we take same pictures. Can we have you sit real still till my people get her with the camera?” Janet nodded. “OK. I am going to remove the rag from you mouth and get you a drink of water.” He did as he had told her he would then he turned to Francis and asked her some questions. “Did you call the FBI?”
Francis looked at Officer Piggot and with a startled look on her face said. “No. I just called 911.” They turned to Janet and before either could ask her she gave them her reply.
“I called Lt. Horatio Caine. He told me he would always be at the number on his card and I mimered the number. He was there and he sent you. Can you tell him to hurry up and get here? I know he can catch the bad man. He is much better than any frog. But why would a frog try to catch the bad man?”
Back as Quantico Gideon listened as he was told that the Arlington Police had got there in time to run the man off. When he was told about the frog not being able to catch him all kinds of red flags began to go up as well as the hair on the back of his neck. He spoke to the officer on the other end of the phone. “Don’t touch anything else in the house my task unit is on its way. We should be there within the hour.”
Gideon turned to Horatio and Jacque. “Gentlemen it would appear that our man has made a tactical error in his latest target. Jacque did you not say that he referred to you as his little frog?”
Jacque nodded his head and said. “Wee. He always refer to me as his little frog.”
Gideon held up his finger to both Jacque and Horatio he looked at his BU team and said. “You people know what I want so get to it. My friends and I are taking a chopper ride to Arlington in hunt of the unsub.”
Aaron Hotchner turned to the group and began talking to them. He turned back to Gideon and said. “Are you sure you want us here and just the three of you to go out in the field?”
“Yes.” Was all he said over his shoulder to Aaron as he, Jacque and Horatio headed for the door.
Back at the house Office Piggot’s shoulder radio squawked and he was told that the FBI’s task force was on its way and not to touch anything. He turned to Janet who was still tied up in the chair and knelt down so that his face ways on her level. “I am sorry Janet it would appear that your friend Lt Caine is with a task force and he is on his way here now and he wants to be the one to release you from these ropes. Can you hold on just a bit longer?”
“Yes, sir. I can wait for Horatio.”
The chopper touched down in a park near Francis’s house and there was a large black sedan waiting for the three men. They hopped off the chopper while the blades were still turning and ran in a crouched position to the waiting car. The driver flipped a switch and lights and sirens came on as the sped toward the house.
When they got to the house there were at least 3 other patrol cars parked in front of the house and before their car came to a stop Horatio had his door open and was out of the car as soon as it come to a stop. He ran to the door and showing his badge to the officer there went in. When he walked into the kitchen Janet’s face lit up. “Horatio! I knew you would come. Are you going to catch the bad man? Will you untie me? Did you bring his frog with you?” She asked several more questions in rapid succession before Horatio held up his hand and had a smile on his face.
“We need to do everything by the book. Let me cut you free first. But I want you to stay in the chair. See what the bad person doesn’t know is that he always leaves something behind. It is my job,” and he pointed to himself. “to catch him and put him away. So I need you to let me find what he left for me.” As he was talking he was pulling on a pair of latex gloves. He reached into his pocket and pull out his pocket knife. He then cut threw the ropes and put them in a bag. He was looking at Janet and saw the bruise that had formed where the man had hit her and he looked down at the floor and swore. It always got to him when they hurt children. “We are going to ask you some questions about what happened tonight.” As he was talking he had taken what looked like wide tape and was pressing it to Janet’s pajamas lifting up any trace the man had left behind. Gideon had come around to her back and was combing her hair and Jacque was holding the paper to catch whatever the man may have left. “Janet meet the bad man’s frog. This is Inspector Jacque Franks of Interpol. The other man is Jason Gideon of the FBI.

Now just to let you know my muse is wanting to work but it is spring break here and my two grandchildren will be in my charge for the next few days. I may or may not have time to get another chapter out. I already have it partially formed in my head so as soon as I get back to writing it should come out on screen pretty easy. Please be patient.
And Lian don't bang your head to hard in anticipation for the next chapter. But if you do I have a big bottle of Ibuprofen in my cell.

Good chapter Regina... Boy is your muse naughty.....
Mine is quite good in comparison - I think she was a little afraid at first what you guys might think of her story (She is a little insecure...) but with all the praise, she just eats it up and gives me more ideas....
She is laughing at the moment... she knows she has you all thinking about what will happen next.... She is a BIG tease... won't even tell me sometimes.... just gives me an ending, but no clues how to get there...... (Then I show her a bit of H or JK, and she starts being nice again...)

Regina your story is wonderful. I know it has some dark issues but so does CSI Miami so it is a story that needs telling. Little Janet reminds me of Jennifer Wilson and that intruder reminds me of Walter Dresden. I don't know if they are made to look that way but I just interpret it like that. You are such a good writer hon. Keep em coming and keep us guessing. Like I said before your stories and other stories I read here at the DC message board I can't put down, lots of suspense.

Great again Regina. Don't worry, I'll have Lian under control. She won't be banging her head too hard, 'cause if she does she disturbs Lucy and Chris......
