time for another chapter get out the kleenex
Chapter 5
Horatio put the hummer into gear and pulled out of the parking lot and headed back to the lab. He parked out front and got of the MDPD headquarters. ‘A virus of gossip’ that’s what Frank had called it.
He got out and went into the building and to the elevators. As he got in and pushed the button for the floor that the lab was on he began to think of the case and put Dee in the back of his mind. The rest of the day went by and he kept track of the case. He reviewed several other ongoing cases that were in the lab and then was back in his office doing the never ending paper work on all the cases that came through on his watch. The work day finally came to an end and Horatio closed the file he was working. He looked at his watch and realized he was going to be running late.
He pulled out his cell phone as he got off the elevator and tapped in Dee’s number. One, two, three, four, five rings and then. . .”Hello. You have reached Dee’s line I am away at the moment. Please leave your name, day you called, and time that you called. I will return your call as soon as I can.” He was surprised by the recording but managed to stumble over his tongue and get out his name and date and time of the call. Then he hung up the line. He walked to his hummer and got in. As he pulled away from the curb the phone rang. He didn’t look at the ID he just flipped it open. “Horatio.” As he listened to Dee he thought she sounded a little out of breath. “What have you been doing? You sound as if you have been running the minute mile.”
I laughed. “No minute miles. I just lugged in one very large pot to the store. I think it must weigh over 50 lbs.” I was walking to the back of the shop. “I am glad you called. I am still at the shop so can you pick me up here?”
“That’s no problem. I will be there at 7 will you be ready?” He had a smile on his face as he listened to me.
“Are we going someplace that would require me to be dressier in my appearance?” I was looking into boxes and calculating which one I could get set up before he arrived. “Whatever you have on will be fine. As long as it is not covered in pottery dust.” I looked down at my clothes. “They’ll pass inspection.” But as I said this I made the mental note to change into the dark green pants and light green blouse I had brought with me from my apartment.
I could hear his laughter. “I will hold you to that when I get there.” His hand held a loose grip of the steering wheel. Traffic wasn’t that heavy and he was happy just to talk with Dee as he drove over the causeway. But he could see a snarl in the traffic about quarter mile down the road. “I need to let you go as the traffic needs me to focus on it and not be dividing it. I will be there in about 40 minutes.” Snapping the phone closed he put it in his pocket and then both hands on the wheel.
As the traffic began to slow he realized that it would be longer than 40 minutes due to the traffic problem. He thought for a second and pulled the hummer up over the curb and turned on the red flashing lights. He pulled around stopped cars and continued down the road until he got to the root of the jam. An accident involving four cars. He picked up the mike of the police radio and keyed. “Dispatch this is Lt Caine I have an accident involving four vehicles at Dade Blvd and Alton Rd.” There was a crackle on the radio as the dispatcher answered him. “We have two units in route. Can you tell if there are injuries involved?” Horatio looked threw the windshield at the tangle of cars. “You might want to go ahead and roll at least one ambulance from the looks of the cars I would have to say possible injuries. I’ll call back as soon as I have taken a closer look.” He put the mike down and unbuckled his seat belt all in one fluid motion. Then he stepped out of the hummer.
As he walked up to the first of the four cars he could see that the driver was still in her seat. “Ma’am, are you injured? I’m a Miami Dade Police Officer.” He then reached out and pulled the driver’s door open. What he saw made his blood run cold. The woman had a .38 pointed right at him. His instincts held true and he threw himself behind the open car door and pull his gun out of his holster at the same time. But, as fast as he was it wasn’t as fast as a speeding bullet. The bullet hit him in the right hip.
As he landed the female driver got out of the car. She swung her gun to point once again at him. “Put the gun down!” Horatio yelled. She smiled and brought the gun up to fire again. Horatio pulled his trigger first. His bullet caught the woman in the right shoulder and knocked her backwards. She again tried to bring the gun up to put another round in him. Horatio fired again this time with a killing shot. The woman dropped to the ground as she pulled the trigger. This bullet hit the ground next to Horatio and bounced away.
He pulled out his phone and hit auto dial. “Officer down! Dade Blvd and Alton Rd! Repeat! Officer down! Shots fire!” He could hear the sirens in the background, but would they get there in time.

it gets a little better
Chapter 6
He watched the scene around him play out in slow motion as he took cover near the front end of the car. He didn’t know if the entire crash had been staged or just the one person was involved. He felt of his side where the bullet had struck him and when he pulled his hand back he saw his own blood on it. Thoughts began to run threw his mind as he sat there bleeding on the street. ‘D--n I am going to be late for dinner. Dee’s going to be upset with me. Where is my backup, they should be here by now. The street lamps should be coming on its getting dark.’ When the last thought hit him he shook his head. He knew that he was going to bleed out from this wound if help didn’t arrive soon.
He lifted his phone to his lips. “Dispatch, are you there?” There was a crackle on the phone and the voice answered “We’re almost there Lt. Caine. Hang on just a little longer.” A smile crossed his lips. “I am going to need that ambulance. How far away is it?” Time seemed to slow down. Things were going out of focus and he knew he was about to pass out. “God, I hate getting shot. Hope Dee doesn’t get mad when I don’t make dinner.” He didn’t realize he said that into the phone. And the darkness enclosed about him.
I was standing in the middle of my shop. It had been over 40 minutes sense I had talked with Horatio. He probably just got stuck in traffic. I didn’t want to start sounding all alarmed at his being a few minutes late. So I waited another 40 minutes and still no Horatio. Well, I don’t think it was being alarmed at this point, so I picked up my cell phone and dialed his cell. It went straight to voice mail. I snapped the phone closed and I began to pace about the store.
When another half hour had passed I dialed 911. “911 what is your emergency?” I felt rather silly at asking. “I was expecting a Lt Horatio Caine about an hour and half ago has he been evolved in an accident?” There was a pause on the line. “Miss I am not allowed to give out that information. Could I have your name please?” I knew that this meant trouble. “My name is Deedra Langley. I am at my shop on Lincoln Mall.” There was another pause. I could tell my call was being rerouted then a man’s voice came on the line. “Miss Langley this is Det. Frank Tripp I am almost at your location. As a matter of fact I am double parking out front of your shop.” I turned and saw a Ford Taurus with a red light flashing on the front dash. “I see you. Let me unlock the door for you.” I hung up the phone.
Before Det. Tripp had even gotten inside I knew that his news wasn’t good. “Ms. Langley, there has been an accident with Lt. Caine and he has been taken to Jefferson Memorial Hospital. I’ve come to take you there if you want to go.”
I looked at this man who I knew must be a friend of Horatio as well as a colleague and I felt rooted in place. “What kind of accident?”
Frank looked at the floor then back at me. I could tell he was weighing just how much he could tell me. “He has been shot. He lost a lot of blood and the bullet is still in him.” He held up his hand as if he knew I was about to ask a million questions. “I can’t tell you more than that. I can take you to him.” He reached out and grabbed me as my legs buckled.
“Now, don’t you go fainting on me.” He commanded. “I wouldn’t have thought H would fall for a wallflower.”
I put my hand on Det. Tripp’s chest to steady myself. “Sorry, that was a bit of a shock to hear. Thank you for your assistance.”
“Anytime ma’am. At least H picked a good strong Texan woman to get evolved with.” I smiled up at this tall Texan who had just prevented me from smacking my head on the floor. “Let me turn out the lights and turn on the alarm system.” I walked to the back of the store and flipped a few switches and set the alarm. Then walked back to the front door where Det. Tripp was waiting for me.
We didn’t say a word to each other all the way to the hospital. We pulled up to the ER entrance and Det. Tripp turned to me. “You go in there and look for a small blond headed woman, her name is Calleigh Duquesne. She will take care of you while I go park the car.” I looked at him for just a second and smiled “Thank you for being so kind as to coming and getting me.” He snorted. “If I didn’t take care of you H would skin me alive when he gets out of here. You will find his team in there waiting for word from the doctors.” He pointed a finger at me. “You won’t be able to ask about him but they can and will. They’re like family. H--l, Delko is family to him. Just go on in and find Calleigh. They wont bite you. Wait a minute.” He dug into his inside pocket and produced a handkerchief.
I had not realized that I had been crying. “Thank you again Det. Tripp.” He smiled at me. “My friend’s call me Frank. Now you just go find Calleigh, she’ll take good care of you.”
I took a good deep breath got out of the car and walked into the ER. I know that there were sounds all around me but my mind had shut them out and I was looking for Miss Duquesne. I spotted a small group of people with a petit blond standing in the middle of it. I took another deep breath and walked up to her. “Ms. Duquesne?”
She smiled at me as she spoke. “You must be the lady that put a smile on H’s face. I am so sorry that we are meeting under these circumstances. But, I can keep you posted on what is going on as I am his second in command. Something tells me we are going to get to know you a lot better and a lot faster than Horatio had planned.” She then turned to the small group of people standing in the waiting room. “Let me introduce you to everyone. This is Eric Delko, he is Horatio’s brother-in-law as well as one of the team. This is Ryan Wolfe, Natalia Boa Vista and you’ve met Frank Tripp. There is also Alexx Woods our M.E., she’s is stationed outside the OR room and will join us as soon as they bring him out and put him in recovery.” She pointed to each person as she spoke their name and they each gave me an acceptable nod and smile. “I think we’re in for a long night.”

I am going away for the weekend and I wont have a chance to post again until late Sunday or Monday sometime so I am posting chapters 7 & 8 together Chapter 7
Calleigh had been correct on how long the night was. It seemed to drag on and on. Finally a beautiful black woman came into the waiting are and went straight to Calleigh. She looked worried as well as frazzled. “Well, they got the bullet out.” She handed Calleigh a small cup with the bullet in it. “Here the bullet is you can send it to the lab. I know that Stetler isn’t letting any of you near the investigation.” She looked at the small group and then her eyes landed on me. “You must be Dee. You should know that his last thought before passing out was of you. By the way I’m Alex you must be Dee.” She extended her hand and after shaking mine she turned back to Calleigh. “He is in recovery and I have gotten permission for two people to set with him. You can draw straws as to the second person but I think the first should be Dee.” Everyone agreed with her and I found myself being ushered into the recovery room by Alexx.
The first thing I noticed was the bag of blood that was hanging on the pole beside his bed. There were a lot of other wires and tubs running in and out of the person that lay on the bed. His hair seemed to be the only color in the room. His skin was so pale. I could see his freckles across the bridge of his nose. I hadn’t noticed them before I was sure that the reason was because he was almost the same color as the sheet he lay on. I was at his side before I could stop myself I had bent down and kissed him lightly on the cheek. Taking his left hand and grasping it I was unaware of anything else in the room. “Hey you were suppose to be taking me out to dinner not getting shot.” Then I broke down in soft tears. “I’m not mad at you. I will be here when you wake up and we’ll have that meal right here in the hospital.”
Alexx had come in the room with me and was standing beside me. I felt her hand on my shoulder and looked up at her. I didn’t realize I had sat down in the only chair in the room and that I had not let go of Horatio’s hand. I put up my hand to pat hers. “I need to cry now because he wouldn’t want me crying when he wakes up.” I kissed his hand as I started to cry again.
“Honey, if there is one thing for sure I know about Horatio Caine it is that he is a fighter. He has fought all his life for injustice to himself, his family and everyone he meets. He is also a survivor. But, he hasn’t had someone by his side when he has been injured before so you are the ace in the hole for him right now.” She reached out and pushed his hair out of his face. “H I have brought your friend in here to be with you so you be good enough to wake up soon and talk with her.” She then bent down and kissed his cheek. She turned to me and I saw a tear fall from her eye. “Don’t you tell him about that kiss. I wouldn’t want him to think I was going all mushy on him.” I nodded and smiled.
“May I ask a question?” I inquired as she turned to leave. “What is it that you want to know?” She ask turning from the door. “I noticed that you call him H is that his nickname?” There was a bright smile that crossed her face as she remembered something in the past with the man on the bed. “He only allows his closest friends to call him that.”
At that point my stomach gave a loud rumble. We both laughed at the sound it made in the room filled with machines that were a choirs all to themselves. “I haven’t eaten sense lunch and its way past midnight now. Do you know if I can get a sandwich brought in and maybe a soda?” She smiled and replied as she left. “I will send both in with who ever got the first shift.” And she went out the door.
It wasn’t long before the door opened and Calleigh came in with a sandwich and soda. Right behind her came an orderly with another chair. “Alexx said that you need nourishment and told me to bring this to you.” She handed me the sandwich and soda. “Oh, by the way, she also gave orders for you to eat every bite.” She then bent over Horatio and kissed his cheek. “Hey there handsome what are you doing in a place like this?” Though her voice was smooth and southern in the deliverance of the question her face was contorted with the fear she had for his life. She then sat down in the other chair and turned to me. “He doesn’t like people to fuss about his life. As a matter of fact you should know that he is a very private person and for us to even know about you is not because he told us in words, but well what we do as CSI causes us to see with a different set of rose glasses. I have seen the change coming on for about a month. It’s like he had a large portion of his burdens lifted. And then today when he came in with a smile on his face I knew there was a special someone that had come into his life.”
We had talked for about an hour before she got up to leave and she got this smile on her face. “You’re as good as H. I think I told you more about me than you did about you. I also feel at ease and not as worried as when I came in.” She then walked out the door.
She had been gone only a few minutes when in walked the tall well built Cuban called Eric Delko. He smiled at me and went over to the bed and bent down and whispered something in Spanish to Horatio. He then sat down and turned his attention to me. “I know that you have to be a good person for Horatio to have accepted you into his very private world. Even I don’t know all the details of his life. His wife, my sister; never was told everything about him. She didn’t have the time before she was killed.” The talk of Marisole continued for awhile then it went on about his family and how Horatio had become a good friend and boss. When he got up to leave he turned back to me. “Thanks for letting me talk I feel a lot better.”
He left as the nurse came in and unhooked some of the wires. “We are going to be moving him to a room on the 7th floor in a few minutes. We need you to go out to the waiting room and we will send someone to escort you to the 7th floor waiting room.”
I went to the waiting room where I found the team sitting and chatting or sleeping in various chairs. I also noticed that the group had grown by at least 10 or 20 people. I cleared my throat, “Ladies and gentlemen of CSI and MDPD he is being moved to the 7th floor. So pack it up and let’s move.” I looked at Calleigh and Alexx who were sitting together. They were smiling and Calleigh gave me a thumbs up as she got up and started for the door.
When she got to the door she turned and saw that some of the people were still sitting in their chairs. “You all heard Horatio’s lady. She said move!” The last sentence was barked out like a drill sergeant. Coming from the petit blond it was a bit of a shock to hear. But everyone seemed to know that it meant that we were moving to the 7th floor waiting room. It took three elevators to get us all to the 7th floor.
As we started filing into the new waiting room a nurse came by. “You must be Horatio Caine’s people. We were told that the waiting room would be filed with off duty MDPD and CSI people. We have already talked with the kitchen and there will be a food cart sent up every two hours. County says to feed every one a meal. That means one…” she held up a finger, “meal per county employee.”
The one called Ryan said. “Oh joy hospital food courteous of the county, I am thrilled to my heart.” Then to the group, “anyone for Chinese?” Hands went up around the room. He pulled out a pad and started taking orders and colleting the money for the order. I smiled as I looked on, I could see that this was a large family as well as colleagues gathered to have a vigil night for Horatio Caine. I could tell that the restaurant was one that everyone seemed to have used a few times. I had to smile as I watched the young dark head going around the room with his note pad. I knew this was just a distraction for him.
He got to me and I smiled and it was then that I realized I had left my purse at the shop. Ryan smiled as if he could read my mind. “What ever you want is covered.” I mouthed a thank you to him then I put my order in. “General Tso’s Chicken with steamed rice. If they would substitute Hot & Sour Soup for the egg roll I would like that. When the order comes I will be in H’s room.” I turned and walked out of the room and down the hall to sit in the room.

and here is 8
Chapter 8
“He is just sleeping the anesthetic off. When he wakes up he may want something for the pain. Just call the nurse.” She finished rearranging his wires and tubes. He was still on an IV drip, but there wasn’t a bag of blood hung on the pole. “If you need anything Mrs. Caine just let the nurse at the desk know.” I opened my mouth to protest the name but she was out the door before I could say anything.
As the nurse went out Natalia came in. “Did I hear her call you Mrs. Caine?” She asked as she took the second chair in the room. There was a look of shock on her face. “Yes, I would have corrected her but she left to quickly.” She stood up and walked to Horatio’s bed side. “He looks so pale and vulnerable laying there.” She reached up and pushed his hair back away from his face. “I never realized how freckled he was until now. He looks so young laying there.” She returned to her chair. She turned to me and I could see tears forming in her eyes. I reached over and grab the Kleenex box.
“I think I will have to order a case of those before this is over. Before you say another word I should let you know that what you say in hear goes no where. I think everyone needs to let Horatio know their inter fillings.” She smiled at me and began to tell me about how he supported her when her ex-husband had been killed and how without his strength she would have never been able to get through those ugly days. We talked for about an hour when there was a soft knock at the door and Ryan put his head in.
“Food is here. You did say to bring yours in here.” He stepped in holding a Styrofoam to-go box and a soup container. “Do you use chop sticks or do you prefer a fork?” I smiled at him and answered. “I love using chop sticks, but my hands have been shaking a bit tonight so I think I will use the western eating implements.”
Natalia looked at Ryan and stood up. “Aren’t you next in here?”
“Yeah, but I haven’t eaten.” He answered to Natalia’s question.
“Why don’t you just bring it in here and eat with me. I could use the company while I eat. As a matter of fact there is enough for two here.” I had opened the container and looked at the contents.
“Humph. Whatever you have if there is enough for two can I have some?” We all turned to the bed and realized the Horatio was awake. I sat my food down and stood up. “I will have to ask if you can have solid food.” He put out his hand and grabbed my wriest. “I have been eating solid food sense I was 2 without permission. It smells good and my stomach is very empty.” I smiled at him. “Aren’t we just a bit on the grumpy side?” His eyes locked onto me when he replied. “I am not grumpy, just hungry. I missed a dinner date and I had reservations for us.”
I looked at Ryan and Natalia and smiled. “Let everyone know that he is awake.” He gave me a sideways look then back to Ryan and Natalia asking “Who is everyone?”
Ryan and Natalia were almost out the door and Ryan turned. “Just about the whole lab and half MDPD off duty officers. I’ll let Calleigh know and she will let the rest know.” He then went out and shut the door.
I went to the foot of his bed where the controls were. “I’m going to lift your head so I can feed you. You let me know if it begins to hurt your hip.”
He put his hand against his hip that was bandaged and felt of the surrounding area. “Raise the d**n bed my whole right side is still numb. But the front of my stomach and the back of my stomach are touching. Sustenance is what I need.”
I finished raising the bed and went to the head of the bed. I took his face between my two hands and placed a kiss on his lips. He returned the kiss and I felt his left arm encircle me. “Maybe food can wait just a few more minutes.” He mumbled into my ear. “H I don’t know what to say other than I will be here for you as long as you want me to be.”
We both heard the door open and I straightened up and stepped back, Horatio took my hand as I did so. The night nurse came into the room. She was about as wide as she was tall and a frown set on her face as if it had been chiseled in at birth. “I see someone raised your bed without permission. I guess you think your going to get some of that Chinese food that’s been brought in. Well, your not. Because the doctor has ordered you on a liquid diet. I need to check you dressing and make sure she hasn’t loosened anything with her tom-foolery.” She then proceeded to check everything. She looked at the bed height. “You at least got the height right on his head. Don’t raise it any more than this. And this ain’t no Motel so only one person is supposed to be in that bed and the name on the chart says Horatio Caine. When you start filling the pain you can have a pain shot. Just press the nurse call button.” As she walked out we could hear her grumble. “Now I just got to get rid of the party going on in the waiting room.”
When she left I pick up the soup container. “Do you like Hot & Sour soup?” He smiled and nodded. I picked up a spoon as I sat down on the bed beside him and began to feed him. “I think this soup would be considered a liquid diet.” His left arm lay lightly across my lap and his hand rested on the cheek of my derrière. “Under normal circumstances it’s a little early in our relationship for you to cop a feel but I think we skipped a lot of the getting to know each other when you told dispatch that I would be upset with you for missing dinner.” He closed his mouth as I was about to insert another spoonful of soup and the look of shock came over his face. “No way!” I smiled at him and nodded. “Yes, way. For a very private person you told the entire MDPD that you were seeing me.” I then laughed at him as his complexion became almost as red as his hair.

well here I am back from my weekend trip. God I hate moving. Here is the next installment
Chapter 9
It was about 20 or 30 minutes before Calleigh and Alexx popped in. But they came in with smiles on there faces. Alexx walked over to the right side of the bed and looked at his chart and the IV pole. Horatio had several bags of meds piggy backing into his IV. I was sure that the meds were contributing to his attitude.
“Well, I see that they have you all doped up.” Alexx commented and then she turned to me. I was sitting in the chair eating my dinner. “You didn’t feed him any solids did you?”
I looked at Alexx and then at Horatio. Pointing my fork at him I replied. “He wanted some of the General Tso’s Chicken but I only let him have the Hot & Sour soup.” Horatio crossed his arms, bringing his right arm up gingerly as it had all his IV connections. “She is following the night nurse's direction, even though I have asked very nicely for a bite of her meal.”
Alexx looked at him and shook her head and then turning to me she ordered. “No solids until about 11pm. He has too many drugs in his system to digest his food properly and it would interfere with the meds he is on at the moment.” Back to Horatio she said. “You are just going to live on hot soup, which should be mostly water and nothing else for a few more hours.” Horatio opened his mouth to say something, but Alexx continued. “In this I over rule you. This is a medical condition and you will obey the doctor’s orders.” By the time she had finished she had one hand on her hip and was shaking a finger at poor H as if he were her errant child.
“Well, now boss you are going to be laid up for a while so other than watching over things for you do you have and other orders?” Calleigh asked as she stepped closer to his bed.
“Yes, put a watch-dog on Stetler. Find out who shot me and why. As a matter of fact I am surprised he isn’t barging in here to interrogate me. Get me a cell phone so you can stay in contact with me. I seemed to have lost mine somewhere between the accident and here.” He looked at Calleigh after he rattled off his list of things he needed from her and then added. “He is here isn’t he?” Calleigh nodded in the affirmative to his question. Horatio looked at Alexx and she smiled very big showing all her pearly whites. “Doctors do have their privileges.” He gave her a nod to confirm that he would comply with the doctor’s order. A tight lipped smile came across his face. Not one I would ever want to see him give me. “Go ahead and let him in. If he starts to haul me in I’ll sick the night nurse on him.”
Everyone laughed at his last statement. Calleigh excused herself so that she could take care of the list of things that her boss had asked her to do.
As she walked out another man walked in. He was about 6’ tall with dark hair and eyes. He had that wet hen look. The one everyone gets when they have perceived that they haven’t been dealt a fair deal. Maybe that was his natural look. “You know using your doctor to keep me from talking to you isn’t going to work. I have your gun and we know that you shot a woman today. We don’t have the supposed gun she had. We know you were shot, but we have no proof it was the woman in the car.” He was lifting fingers as he stated this to Horatio. “So until we get more than your word I am placing you on notice that IAD is going forward with having you removed from the service of MDPD and CSI.”
I had put my food down when this man walked in and sat there listening to him spout out a tainted picture of the shooting. Before anyone could speak or make a move I was out of my chair and standing between him and Horatio. “I haven’t been around very long and I didn’t catch your name.” It brought him up short and he looked down at my small 5’5” petit frame.
“The name is Sgt. Rick Stetler of IAD and you have to be Deedra Langley. I’m checking you out too.” He had to take a step back as I had actually been toe to toe with him.
“Let me save you the trouble. I come from Middleton, Texas. My family is into oil and cattle. Big name back there, you go ahead and contact my daddy. His name is Franklin Delinore Langley esq. He is a former linebacker for Texas University, an ex-marine sergeant and he currently is practicing law with the law firm of Langley Langley & Delinore. Matter of fact let me give you his private number. He’ll be real glad to hear how you want to investigate his little girl.” A smile crossed my face when I pictured my daddy and this idiot in the same room after he had questioned my honesty. I had taken after Mom not my Dad in my physical looks.
Sgt Stetler’s mouth was open and if his jaw could have reached the floor that’s where it would have been. “I’ll do just that.” He took a step to the side and pointing a finger at Horatio said. “I don’t think it will take very long for me to get you off the force and maybe behind bars this time.”
I started to shake with a fury that comes from having generations of Irish and German ancestry running through my veins. I clenched my fist and through gritted teeth I spoke ever so quietly. “You had better make a fast exit from this room.” His attention was drawn back to me. “I will not give you a second warning. GET OUT!” He turned and left.
Alexx started to laugh as the door closed on Stetler’s retreating backside. “Oh I wish I would have had a camera to take a picture of his face when you said get out. H you don’t need the night nurse you have one very angry Texan that has a little mule in her.” With that she too took her leave.
I turned around and realized what I had done and said; I turned as red as Horatio had been earlier. But I could see that H was trying hard not to burst out laughing. I walked over to his side and looked into his blue eyes for acceptance of what I had said. I sat down on the bed beside him and took a deep breath. “I would have told you about myself I just didn’t have the time. But I should let you know that I am the only daughter of Franklin and Hazel Langley. My Uncles George and Abraham are just as protective. I guess I should give them a call and a heads up about this idiot that just left.”
