So the first spoilers have arrived, and BOY are they interesting! I doubt that I speak only for myself when I say that the prospect of this episode is very exciting.
This is actually a casting call, but in the descriptions of each character lies the overall plot. Have a read and tell me if you're excited as I am.

As Delko lies in a coma, we get to see his first murder case with the Miami-Dade PD, back in 1997, before the team came to be who they are today...
[DETECTIVE JACK] In his early to mid 50s, a sharp, experienced, old-school homicide cop in a suit and tie, he is seen in 1997, partnered with a younger Horatio. They've worked together a long time and have a solid rapport and shorthand speech with one another, but lately a rift has developed between them based on their different investigative methods. He jumps to conclusions sometimes and doesn't care for Horatio's insistence on scientific evidence; instead, he prefers good old-fashioned police work...GUEST STAR
[LIEUTENANT FRED] In his 50s, curmudgeonly and set in his ways, he is seen in 1997, as the experienced, condescending head of what passes for the crime lab ten years ago. He's annoyed by Calleigh's arrival as his new assistant and he refers to her as a "meter maid," giving her tedious busywork and discouraging her theories in front of Horatio. When she contradicts Fred, he's not pleased...GUEST STAR. AFRICAN AMERICAN OR CAUCASIAN
[ARNOLD] 28 to 35, tan and muscled, uncomfortable and socially awkward (he prefers plants to people), seen in 1997, he works as a gardener for the murder victim Amy and her husband Steve. He's brought in for questioning by Jack and Horatio. He tries to play it cool, but it's clear he's hiding something -- and not just a citation for being a peeping tom...GUEST STAR. LATINO OR CAUCASIAN
[STEVE] 30 years old and handsome but with a mysterious edge ("Miami's answer to Scott Peterson"), seen in 1997, he's the husband of murder victim Amy. He's distraught over her death and insists he didn't kill her. It turns out he was having an affair, however, and the guilt is eating him up...GUEST STAR
[KEVIN] In his 30s, a young, ambitious Assistant State Attorney seen in 1997, he's somewhat of an obstructionist toward Horatio and Calleigh's innovative evidence-collecting techniques. He agrees with Jack that scientific methods aren't very trustworthy or useful...GUEST STAR
[LARRY] In his 40s, an older cop with a good ol' boy snicker, seen in 1997, he gives the new girl Calleigh a hard time and makes a crass joke or two at her expense.sptv050769..GUEST STAR
[EMT #1 AND EMT #2] These EMTs in a moving ambulance try to revive Delko, hooking him up to an IV, bandaging his wounds, and using a defibrillator on him...CO-STAR. SUBMIT ALL ETHNICITIES.
[AMY] 29 years old, the murder victim in a 1997 case, she is killed by a gunshot wound to the back of the head, and her desecrated body is discovered in the trunk of a car that's been submerged under the water...CO-STAR
