I don't know how many of you have actually read it, or if it's somewhere else (and I certainly hope I don't repeat anything here) in the board, but I thought to share! I was trying to find if there's anything written about his political beliefs (yes, don't ask, this thing about my favourite actors' political beliefs is an obsession of mine ) and I stumbled across this www.astrotheme.com/portraits/D2xNam7Y4ZEV.htmI didn't read it since it's long past my bed time, but I thought that maybe some of you want to read it! Oh it's HUGEAnastasia PS: If anyone knows about his political beliefs, please PM me! LOL PS2: Needless to say I don't believe in horoscopes!

Did he actually PLAY the role of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables? I never heard he did.....I only know that one as a musical and I'm not sure if Mr. Caruso can sing that well....... But of course it's very well possible that it's also been brought as a play without the singing parts......... Sandra

I must admit that I didn't read everything, but did a little skim-reading. It's quite interesting and I must say that I detected one or two aspects which made me nodd at once... *grin* I don't believe in horoscopes, but sometimes it's quite interesting what they try to tell us ... by the way: I'm an Aries... ;-)

When I found this, I tried to read (as quickly as possible) to see if it was, you know objective... : before posting the link, but skipped all the little details, so I cannot say I have a full view of what is written! The Valjean part is also in his info in wikipedia, Sandra, but who knows... And I have read Karen's post, Gonsy! That's what made me to post this as well.... Still haven't read it though I need to find more spare time!! Anastasia

No, no, no, no, no. David NEVER played the role of Valjean. Someone decided to be a wise a** and put that on Wikipedia. Trust me--the role of Valjean is widely considered to be the most challenging vocal role ever written for a man in a broadway musical. And...it's extremely high. And all of us know that David's voice is anything but high. Besides, don't you think if David had starred in Les Mis that it would have been acknowledged in his Bio, in interviews, in magazines, on many websites, etc? Trust me. He never played Valjean.

That's why I was wondering: I never heard anything about it before......and I know the musical, I've seen it (not on Broadway though ) and the part of Jean Valjean IS really tough..... Sandra

Thanks for posting Anastasia........not into horoscopes but when you read some of this you can as Sundancer said nod your head and grin a bit. Re the subject Les Miserables........this has been running in London for 25 years now so we can all assume a good musical. I saw it in London many moons ago and thought it was very good........but, I have to say I didn't think it was anything extra special at the time. Perhaps I was just not in the right mood on the night. Margaret

Actually it is written everywhere if you just type David Caruso Les Miserables BUT it doesn't mean it's the truth! Emily is right, no one can trust what is on the net! But, do you actually mean that David CANNOT sing? Based on what? (I'm only joking!) Margaret, I don't believe in astrology either (I don't read mine!) Anastasia

Actually Anastasia is right it is all over the internet that David Caruso was called upon in 1987 to fill in for 6 months on Broadway as Jean Valjean. I knew I had read this somewhere other than Wiki and I have an article. But have just checked elsewhere as well and it is registered out there on several sites. So did he or did he not? ? He could have taken on the role as a speaking part. Margaret

Les Mis is a musical, there's no way he could have done it as a speaking part. David himself has claimed that he cannot sing, though I happen to think he probably can, based on the way he speaks. So, don't you think that if he had played the biggest male role in the history of broadway (with the possible exception of the Phantom in the The Phantom of the Opera) even for just six months that he would be willing to acknowledge that he CAN sing?
He did not play Valjean. The reason it's probably listed on several sites is because people will believe almost anything they read on the net. And, again I say that there's no way he COULD have played Valjean.

Also, notice that if you google "David Caruso" and "Valjean" that the sites that cite that he played the role are copy/paste versions of Wiki. Word for word.

Why are you attacking me Emily......I wasn't saying anything other than perhaps and I wasn't questioning what you said either and I certainly wasn't saying he did.....
BTW it may have been a musical for many years now.......but this story started as a novel.

Margaret, I'm not attacking you in any way! No, no. And, I know Les Mis started as a novel. My point was that Wikipedia says this: "In 1987, Caruso was called upon to fill in for the leading role of Jean Valjean in Les Misérables on Broadway for 6 months," meaning that it was a musical. Which is why I said that Valjean couldn't have been a speaking part. That was all I was trying to say.
