This series is about the crime scenes in Chicago 1963. Lieutenant Michael Torello must deal with the city’s most dangerous criminals one of whom is Ray Luca, a young ambitious street hood who is out to gain wealth and power by whatever means….including, theft, threats, extortion and murder. Torello is determined to bring him down.
David Caruso plays the part of Johnny O’Donnel a brash young would be criminal with big ideas and who wants to be part of the major gang……..but, is no match for the likes of Ray Luca and despite warnings from Torello ( who has a soft spot for Johnny and his family) he fails to listen and ends up dead at the end of the pilot episode by the hands of Ray Luca.
The first four walls cover Mike Torello visiting The O'Donnel's store to say hello......he has a soft spot for this family. He also worries about Johnny and ask him what he is doing these days.
Johnny then meets up with Ray Luca.............and Ray Luca ends up in a fight with someone and Johnny intervenes to break it up and to calm Ray down
Johnny and Ray leave together and Johnny is trying to sell the idea of a jewel heist to Ray. Johnny has done his homework well and Ray agrees to a deal.
The heist takes place and is successful.
The next 4 walls cover the scene where Ray and Johnny are trying to cut a deal with another villian. This seems to start off well but then there is a change and Johnny will not accept what is being offered.....picks up the jewels and storms out of the meeting.
Ray Luca chases after Johnny and gradually calms him down and returns with the jewels on his own to negotiate a deal.
Ray Luca meets up with Johnny to explain the done deal. Johnny is not pleased but accepts the deal not knowing that Ray was actually cheating on him and had told Johnny they were getting less than they were in reality.
Following this Johnny does another robbery on a jewellers store and completely loses his cool......storms out and jumps in the getaway car and his friends are not happy......but, at this point Johnny couldn't care less.
Mike Tortello catches up with Johnny in the street and warns him to get out of trouble because if he catches him he will take him down with anyone else. He really is rying to help him but, Johnny gets all brash with him and walks off. Johnny was also afraid that if he was seen with Mike there could be trouble for himself. He was right and his mother and father were paid a visit.
However, Johnny still did not learn and he is now on his way to pick up some jewels that have been stored in a frozen meat joint and thinks he has persuaded Ray to cut another deal and they start to drive away.
As they move away Ray says he likes the feel of the car and asks Johnny if he could drive.......Johnny happily agrees and as Ray gets out of the car Johnny moves over to the other side but, instead of getting in the car Ray shoots Johnny and walks off with the jewels leaving Johnny for dead.
This is one of the last looks Johnny gives Ray.
Johnny survives long enough for Mike Torello to ask him who shot him. He was really upset because he really did have a fondness for Johnny.
Hope you enjoyed.
If you are interested I am now going to post some screencaps of this episode.
