Horatio Crane's naughty mini-me
(yes she spelled Horatio's last name wrong. )
Horatio Crane's (twice )long-lost son is making his appearance on the seventh season of CSI: Miami. And 15-year-old Kyle Harmon, played by Evan Ellingson, is a juvenile delinquent whose middle name is Trouble.
When TODAY spoke to Evan over the phone, the actor was "getting a drink at the liquor store" in Los Angeles. Egad. Whatever would daddy say?
Then again, Evan seems to have nice, normal hobbies to balance his life out. Just before hitting the liquor store, he was hanging out at the aquarium and "looking at fish and taking pictures" with his new camera.
The 21-year-old has achieved some level of success, with roles in other TV shows like Titus, Complete Savages and 24, but being on CSI: Miami is taking his career to all-new levels.
Said Evan: "Everywhere I go, whether it's the gas station or Target, people are coming right up to me and saying: 'Hey, aren't you Horatio's son?'"
"I definitely feel honoured," said the skateboarding enthusiast about working closely with David Caruso, who plays the sunglass-fiddling Horatio.
"We hang out offset - he'll invite me to go have lunch and talk about what's going on in our lives and whatnot... It really helps when we're playing a family."
With his TV success and a role on the big screen as Cameron Diaz's son in My Sister's Keeper, is he the next hot hunk to look out for?
"Well, I don't want to go and say that I'm the next hot hunk around, but I do, once in a while, get fan mail," said Evan, laughing.
"Some girl wrote me a letter from the United Kingdom saying that a bunch of her friends were throwing an Evan Ellingson party, and they wanted me to fly out to the UK to attend.
"I didn't know whether to take them seriously because the girl told me she was 11 years old. It's fun. I like the whole fanatical thing. My brother's always laughing at me."
Does he think he's hotter than Zac Efron, then? "I don't want to answer that for myself, but you guys should have a poll or something!"
Winning that poll might help the single guy's love life. "Hopefully and maybe somebody will come along," said Evan. "But in the meantime, I'm spending time with the fish. They don't talk to me and they don't cause any drama!"
