When you feel tired and uninspired you leave you work aside (namely Past and future) and you’re dealing with different things, such as small song fics.
So this one is based in one of my favourite Leonard Cohen songs “I’m your man” and describes Yelina’s feelings in the first couple of seasons…
I hope you’ll enjoy. Reviews easily accepted! (Just remember as of yesterday I have no job so please be kind! lol)
Horatio stood in front of the sea thinking about his life, his life not others'. While he was staring at the dark blue water another person was secretly watching the lonely man and wondered; wondered if his loneliness was really wanted or a mean to stay loyal to his family, ethics and principles. The tall dark haired woman knew that if he made the first move she would accept everything he had to offer. And because she knew the redhead all too well, she believed it would have been everything a woman could dream about a man.
She could also imagine his acceptance if she went there and told him how much his presence in her and her son's life had made everything bearable. Yes, she was certain he'd accept her love had she dared to go there and say the words clear and looking him in his eyes. But she couldn't so it because of him; because of the man he was! Being together could turn the dream, the dream they both held on a living nightmare. She could imagine Horatio giving everything to her, everything she asked... a lover? a partner? someone to take the pain away? He would be there to take everything on his shoulders.
If you want a lover
Ill do anything you ask me to
And if you want another kind of love
I’ll wear a mask for you
If you want a partner
Take my hand
Or if you want to strike me down in anger
Here I stand
I'm your man
How many times hadn't he been the father for her son? a father better than the real thing, always there by their side just instinctively knowing they had his need, fighting to keep them like a family; fighting harder and stronger than his brother ever did. Tears ran in the big brown eyes remembering who the supporter of her small family was after her husband's death; or even before that as well!
Horatio was always there to give directions, to make the bad good, to hurt himself to keep others happy. Everything she wanted she only had to ask and there it was.
If you want a boxer
I will step into the ring for you
And if you want a doctor
Ill examine every inch of you
If you want a driver
Climb inside
Or if you want to take me for a ride
You know you can
I'm your man
So why not? Why weren't already in each other’s arms declaring their undying love? Because she had made a mistake many years ago choosing the wrong brother and she had to pay the prise. She could only imagine late at night when sleep was far away how life could have been if she had first met the older one. The most cherished woman among all others; that was she could have been with a man, not perfect of course but with an integrity, pride and strength able to delete his mistaken priorities. She could only imagine, fantasize what his love could have been like, tender, loyal and all consuming for them both.
Ah, the moons too bright
The chains too tight
The beast won’t go to sleep
I've been running through these promises to you
That I made and I could not keep
Ah but a man never got a woman back
Not by begging on his knees
Or I'd crawl to you baby
And I'd fall at your feet
And I'd howl at your beauty
Like a dog in heat
And I'd claw at your heart
And I'd tear at your sheet
I'd say please, please
I'm your man
What could happen if they did give in their feelings though? Would he still be the same man in the end of the day? Would he still be able to respect himself? Not because the action itself is wrong, love between them isn't wrong, but because he would feel as if he had betrayed his brother. And how could it be like living with Horatio when he couldn't respect himself? It's only logical to feel that he isn't respected by her either. No relationship can survive this no matter how much love there is. Love must be accompanied and made up with respect and admiration to succeed and thrive.
And if you've got to sleep
A moment on the road
I will steer for you
And if you want to work the street alone
I'll disappear for you
If you want a father for your child
Or only want to walk with me a while
Across the sand
I'm your man
No matter how much they both wanted or wished for it, she knew Horatio couldn't be her man. Wrong choices and decisions of the past had made this affair impossible; the dream could be easily become a nightmare. And it wasn’t worth it!
If you want a lover
I'll do anything you ask me to
And if you want another kind of love
I'll wear a mask for you
"Yelina?' His soft voice came from afar even though as he opened her eyes she saw him standing right in front of her with a worried expression in his face. She had lost track of time and she had been caught on dreaming. 'Are you OK?'
'Yes, just thinking...'
He looked at her a little strange but intense and decided not to ask anything else.
'OK. I'll catch you later...' he said and little by little he moved away growing the distance between the two of them.
