Excellent episode, very dramatic, intense opening with Ryan and Calleigh being very energetic and active as they escape from a burning house with a corpse in tow. Smoke inhilation catches up to Calleigh later and she nears death until she becomes stabilized in the hospital. Alexx, working part time in the ER, was "Johnny-on-the-spot" with her diagnosis and her expertise. No one-liner, no Horatio until after the opening credits.
Loved seeing Horatio and Eric working the crime scene. Horatio with a flashlight is almost as good as Horatio with a gun.
Plot revolved around illegal operations and selling organs on the black market. Enjoyed seeing Eric and Alexx working together, McGyver style, as they adapted materials on hand to examine the kidney transportaion machine for prints. There was also a "Grey's Anatomy" scene (hanky-panky in the hospital pharmacy).
Ending was very, very special with Horatio actually wrapping an arm around Alexx and giving her his brightest smile. I am looking forward to the screencaps on this scene very much.
Eric and Calleigh also shared some tender moments as she awakened from her ordeal. Still no commitment, but Calleigh was clearly pleased to see him and asked him to stay with her.
And I have finally figured out where I have seen Horatio's haircut before: on Carl Sandburg. Yes, I met him a couple of times and he wore his white hair with forelocks hanging over his right eye. Maybe we can find a picture that will prove my point!

++SPOILERS++
I'm not sure whether or not it was my personal favourite, but I think this ep was the best one so far this season. Everything about it, the plot, the characters and their interactions, was more compelling and realistic and many of the other eps. Seeing Calleigh in a hospital gown with her hair all over the pillow and a tube down her throat really drives home that these are real people, which, in my opinion, is lost from time to time to glamour. There was nothing glamourous about her near-collapse in the interrogation room.
I have to say, this episode actually creeped me out a bit. The Doctor's "home" already had a Silent Hill feel to it, all the way down to the lighting, and when the whole place lit up blue, well, I was actually a little scared about what they might find out had happened.
I agree with Karen that I can't wait for screencaps. Even if it was only a one-arm hug, that ending was just too sweet. I especially loved Alexx's comment that because it was family night, Horatio would "fit right in." So true, and, again, so human. Even just the implication that Horatio might be, y'know, interacting with people outside work is very grounding. As is his smile.

I'm going to jump in here quickly before bed. I agree completely with Karen and Dalet. That final scene made an already excellent episode that much better. The chemistry that David and Khandi have is undeniable. And what a smile we got from H there at the end. While I won't have time to cap the whole episode, I will at least try to cap that scene. My heart is still mush even an hour after the epi...

I watched this one on the BIG TV in the living room with Mom. We both enjoyed it. I liked the interplay of all the characters. This epi was very well written. H did have a good line when he and Ryan caught the guy that actually shot at Eric and Calli in the opening scenes. The (alleged)criminal says to Ryan as he is twisting him arm up and behind him. 'You're breaking my arm!' H has his gun drawn down on him as he delivers the line. 'You have another one.'
My Mom and I both let out a hoop when he delived it. What a great scene. The entire epi was well written. My hands are out stretched and clapping for the writers on this one. Loved seeing Alex again and I hope that we will see more of her.

I agree. With all of you.
This episode was so great, and I will admit when Horatio hugged alex I did have tears of joy streaming down my face.
It was an epic, awesome episode for all of the actors involved.
And, even if there is no Romance between Horatio and Alexx, I still bet Horatio does, and when he does hand them out, give the best hugs.
It takes alot for Horatio to hug someone, and to see that smile on his face when he pulled her to his chest, was just so awesome, and it made me so glad, to have watched the episode, and it touched me in a way, i havent been touched before yet by him.
And also, in a selfish not it made me want to be hugged by that man even more.
Can I give credit to Johnathan Togo here, because He was freakin amazing and he did some awesome acting as well, God he was awesome, it gave me a whole new respect for him, which was AMAZING.
Horatio, back to Horatio.
The only thing that bothered me was, unlike Eric, he didnt go sit beside Calliegh while she was unconcious, and it seems that when something major happens to one of his CSI's he does that, although he didnt with Ryan either.
And then I thought about it for a little while that statement I made above, and I realized that with Eric there where two connections between them, that, he was his brother in law, two he was his CSI and three, he was married to his --well widowered to his sister.
Another note, I would like to add, is this is probably by far one of my favorite episodes, although Horatio coulda had more screen time, it was still freakin EPIC, and this season..
IS GETTING HOT!

This was a good eppy. Cal took her time to keel over which surprised me. I thought Ryan would end up dragging her out of the house. I had a slight laugh when Natalia and Ryan were processing the makeshift 'surgery'. With all that blood and plastic I think they were expecting a scene from 'Dexter.' Loved the final scene, H rarely does anything so spontaneous. Lee.

He does, ya know, and for him, as a man to hug someone is HUGE.. Like because I noticed he doesnt like to be touched. He doesnt like contact from others, although when Marisol would give it, he would take it. But anyone else it seems -- even the people he's worked so many years with, it seems he just doesnt like it when they touch him... But once again we go to the hug when Speedle died and he asked Calleigh to hug him.. But again, I noticed, he has to ask for it, he doesnt just give it. --- I think its from the abuse he suffered as a child... it could stem from that.. . Eh I dunno I'm kinda just rambling now

oh yeah the ending was fabolous. unforgetable. like the ending of 6x17, just "opposite direction". H was so different. so open. I noticed, he doesn't like to be touched or anything and then HE hugs someone. wow. the scene was so sweet, but now I miss Alexx even more

You guys don't realize what you're doing to us overseas. It's so... HARD to read about this (obviously) wonderful ep and not to be able to watch it completely. *sigh* But thanks a lot for those comments. Combined with the caps it really helps to create a little head-cinema...

Let's see, we had a burning house, shots fired at our CSIs, Calleigh just a step or so away from death's door, a car chase, black market organ trading...wow, that was one action-packed episode! It was so action packed and I was so drawn into the plot that I didn't even notice a colour scheme for this episode! I can only agree with what's been said before - I absolutely ADORED this episode. From the info we'd got before the episode aired I (just like Lee) expected Calleigh to be dragged from the burning house, but I liked they way it was written into the show even better; the gradual signs and then the sudden crash. I really did like that scene in the interview room: "What's this? Good cop, crazy cop?" Calleigh's collapse increased the tempo of the episode and kept the action vibe, which had been set right from the start, going well. There was a Horatio one-liner that should go down in CSI history: Criminal being cuffed by Ryan(think his name was Ronnie): "Hey! You're breaking my arm!" Horatio: "You've got another one." And yes, that end scene was absolutely amazing - the genuine chemistry that came across between H and Alexx was wonderful. And when she said "It's family night, which means you'll fit right in." I think I may even have given the tiniest of girlie squeals. I don't believe I'll be recovering from my mushy status for quite some time after that line! the hug, the smile...bellisimo, fantastique, wonderful! I too have to hand it to Jon Togo for a wonderful episode - I'm really pleased that they've given him some action-based things to so this season, he does them so well. Trying to knock out the window to escape, eventually ripping up floorboards, carrying the dead guy out of the burning house, chasing down the suspect on foot...did I mention I love Jon Togo? (I do however wonder if the wardrobe department are conducting some sort of on-screen battle of garish ties between Ryan and Frank. Ryan's was certainly not subtle in this week's episode) Seriously though, this is not an episode that you want to miss. Brilliant! Amy
