Mmmm.......No I didn't really think you would tell us the name of the sniper just yet sundancer, but it was worth trying. Ok....so where does Malcolm fit in here? Cannot remember mention of him anywhere before......and it was a trap after all. As far as Stetler is concerned never let him come into my imagination for the sniper....he is not the sort of man to want to put the wrongs of justice right. I still don't trust Honeymaker, but I also still don't believe he could be the sniper, unless somehow he has been able to take on a new identity and to become an FBI agent and thus take vengeance on those that escaped justice, but I don't think so.....I think Honeymaker is on a personal vendetta re Horatio and that is all. I have a funny feeling we will all be very surprised when we learn who the sniper is. You, see in sundancers last chapter she indicated that they would all be surprised at he name.........suggesting that others apart from Horatio will be surprised, which means Mac and team as well. Shucks, Margaret, stop guessing. Great chapter sundancer.

Horatio and Mac.... shot??? god i hope not! maybe what Cal found out was that the bullet proof vests aren't so bullet proof against this bullet! i hope to god that they're okay! this would destroy Cal and Stella!
another possibilty could be Jake! my three guesses would be either Honeymaker, Stetler or Jake! i could be wrong on all three counts! can't wait for the next installment! but i just realised, its friday, does this mean we'll have to wait till monday to see what has happened to Horatio and Mac?? luv sam x

Sorry of having you left with a cliffhanger again. And, yes, Gonsy, I did it on purpose. It's so nice to read the names of the different suspects... and not revealing anything. ;D ;D Chapter 40Mac had got all information more or less at the same moment. Calleigh and Stella had told him that a Kevlar would not work in the expected way concerning the power of this caliber and shape of the round. And Ryan Wolf had told him that Stewart O’Neill had been somewhere at the Keys and definitely not in New York City. Within the very next seconds Mac had informed Danny about the latest news, pressed the emergency dot on his cell-phone to call in Don Flack and his cavalry and had rushed out of the car to get Eric and Horatio out of the snipers shooting-range. *** He failed! But he would be cool enough to get out of this without any problems… as usual. He had only to get to the next flat-roofed building and from there he would reach the street via a side-entrance. His flight-ticket was booked on his old name, so he was not afraid of getting arrested at the airport. He would have left the crime-scene long before the first police-car bended around the corner and he would be already on his way back to Miami before something was circulated about a wanted person or the info would be delivered to the airport-security.*** It was a spooky atmosphere one could only meet in this kind of lousy streets. With the shot at the group of CSIs it had started to rain. Now the asphalt was shimmering wet and reflected the flashes of blue and yellow lights of police- and emergency-cars. Stella and Calleigh had to park their car in quite a huge distance to the crime-scene and could not help but run to the steps in front of the entrance-door of this brick-stone house where the main part of the action had taken place. “Horatio?!” Calleigh yelled. “Just cool down.” Calleigh was stopped by Sheldon Hawkes who had arrived together with the first car of the paramedics. “He’s sitting over there, he gonna have some headaches the next days and after that he’ll do fine again.” Sheldon smiled his comforting little smile and when he noticed that Calleigh calmed down a bit, he gave way to Horatio. Horatio was sitting on the first step of the entrance and pressed a cool-pack on the back of his head. A paramedic controlled his blood-pressure and finished his examination just when Calleigh approached. “Cal,” Horatio said silently. Calleigh had stopped in a distance of an arm-length. She studied his face to judge the reaction on her. Then she asked without touching him: “Everything all right?” “Nothing happened,” answered Horatio and tried to nodd as a sign that he was definitely O.K., but he was rewarded with some sharp stitches which remembered him to press the cool-pack just a moment longer to ease the pain. Calleigh kept her distance and looked around for Eric. Horatio noticed it and explained: “Eric’s completely O.K. He’s already on his way with Danny to find the place the shot had come from. – And as far as I know, Mac’s treated by the paramedics. He’d caught the round for me, but I guess he only got a scratch.” Calleigh turned around and while only shortly looking back over her shoulder she said: “Then it’s my turn to search for the round now.” Horatio bended his head forward and dropped his shoulders as been beaten. All tension seemed to have disappeared from him. He did not look up until somebody stood right in front of him. It was Lindsay Monroe who asked him to come to the car and to drive back to the hotel. Because he did not have any energy anymore, he agreed without complaining or asking for the latest news of his colleagues. Even the arrest of the old O’Neill did not catch his attention anymore. TBC

Mmm.....come on Calleigh loosen up, Horatio needs you to be on his side not you still judging him for something done in the past and which he felt was the right thing at the time....SoMac got hurt as well......not good but, at least they are both OK. I am curious to know if the sniper managed to get to the airport.
Great chapter sundancer.

Oh my, such distance between those two, not good. You can't blame Horatio for his past. So the shooter got away again **sigh**. Will they figure out he has gone back to Miami? So we are no closer to catching this jerk. Glad to hear everyone is safe and no one really got hurt. Can't wait to see what's next?

gonsy: Many thanks for this compliment *flushes* Yep, the team is still on the hunt for the sniper, though they should have an idea about his identity right now. And Horatio and Calleigh... well, just give them some time at the moment and have a look at Mac and Stelle and how they cope with the situation... Enjoy Chapter 41When Stella approached the paramedics, she saw Mac sitting on the steps of the car and being treated on his right shoulder. When he noticed Stella’s worried face he tried to joke a bit: “This part of my body I wasn’t able to get down just in time.” But Stella was not able to laugh about it at all and only sent an asking glance to Sheldon, who had joined them. “Nothing serious, indeed. He only caught a scratch. Though the Kevlar-vest wasn’t working that good, it was a better protection as if he’d had no vest at all.” “How are you feeling?” Mac asked Stella suddenly. “Feeling? Well, I’m not the one who’d been under fire,” Stella answered irritated. “That’s not what I mean,” Mac gave back and waited until the paramedics had given him a fresh shirt and a jacket for the way back to the NYPD. It was hard for Stella to get her look away from Mac’s bare chest, now getting dressed in a white shirt again. Then she looked at his face with an asking glance and did not know where this talk would take them to. Mac tried to explain carefully: “How will you handle this for the next time? Will your nerves be as panic-resistant as they had been today? – For me, I must say… I don’t know how I would react if I know you’re in a dangerous situation.” Now Stella knew where his train of thoughts had taken him to. “I guess we both know in which job we’re actually working. And it won’t be the first or the last dangerous situation either for one of us. – Just have a look at Calleigh and Horatio: they keep as professional as needed to handle this right now…” Mac made a wry grin, because he had observed Calleigh’s reaction on Horatio. “Ehm, that’s not a good example at the moment, because Cal’s angry about ‘H’. I guess he’d brought himself already into various dangerous situations without taking care.” Though this guess was miles away from the current truth, Mac had hit the bull’s-eye with his comment. In any other situation, Calleigh would have been angry about Horatio bringing himself into trouble. Stella turned half away from Mac and observed how Danny and Eric returned to the group and shook their heads. The still ongoing rain had washed away most of the traces. Calleigh joined the small group, too, with the only success of the day: the round. “Do you wanna drive Eric and Horatio to the hotel, too, or do you join the team at the lab?” Mac asked. Stella turned back to Mac who was still sitting on the step of the paramedic-car. She waited a second until all other people had got out of hearing-distance, crouched down besides him and then she answered silently accompanied by a little smile: “First of all, I would like to kiss your face as if there is no tomorrow. But therefore there’s too much folks around us.” Her smile was breath-taking and this answer made Mac drop his jaws. But before he was able to add something, Stella continued: “And then… then I would like to drive with you to the lab to continue our work and to get that son of a b****.” *** “Welcome to all passengers booked on flight 08923 from New York City, La Guardia Air-port to Miami International. – The weather during our trip will be very fine, so we will arrive in Florida within the next 2 hours. The captain and the entire crew wish you a pleasant flight.” TBC

My question is......Why is the sniper on his way back to Miami at this point of time.? Is he/she expecting that Horatio is going to return immediately or does he/she think that the CSI's are closer than they think right now and is therefore getting out of reach for now. Great chapter sundancer. Margaret
