He was the "trail blazer" in regard to crossing over from TV into movies. Producers and networks did not want to think they would lose control of a "star" and therefore denied him his chance so issued an ultimatum. But what happened to him afterwards, gave TPTB second pause and by the time George Clooney, David Duchoveny (sp) and others were ready to try their hands in the movies, attitudes changed.

Wow! Thanks to Margaret and Selvi07 for this very interesting article!
'new faces' of DC, which makes me sure, that this man is absolutely incredible..... *sigh*
@anastasia - yes, I can't understand these reactions after DC's departure from NYPD too.... No chance for him, to do both. Perhaps time and people he worked with to that time weren't the right ones, to give him this chance!.....

Well said Karen........as you know by now I thought DC suffered unfairly at the hands of the public. The Producers and networks were a lot to blame here. The stars have tight contracts and they are made to pay if they buck the authority. There is a tendency to think that stars have a cushy life with big fat pay rolls and we forget that the networks control these people so much. Also, their personal agents often rock the boat for them when it comes to financial deals. Well, he was as you say the trail blazer......too bad he had to suffer so much in opening up the way for others to have an easier time than he did.

..well that did ultimitely cause the actor's strike we had in the late 90's...alot of other stars wanted to do both as well..and now they can...but he gets no credit for striking out when it wasn't the "cool" thing to do!! so glad he had the courage to do so...think of all the awesome movies we wouldn't have if he had stayed with Blue!
