Not to forget that he uses the 'f-word' quite a lot. ;D I wonder if he still does that..hmm. Interesting interview, that's for sure and he has definitely changed..I think. At least from what we can read in interviews in today's days...just the question if it's always the real David we read about in magazines etc, or if it's just some character he had created for the business so to say.

Well and I can just imagine him with that Brooklyn accent of his - saying all that stuff He's so much more mature now though - so much more of a man than when he was younger - I has to give him that much - and who's to say - your right Jessica - maybe this is just another one of his masks - the badass actor who won a role as the main character in NYPD blue - ya know?

man, I hope he's 'grown up' a bit since that article - some of the stuff he said makes me want to take him over my knee and give him such a spankin' for the arrogant statements... hope he realizes the world does not revolve around him as much as he'd like to think it does (at least according to his statements in that article)... being a strong-willed Italian female, he'd not fair well in my presence with lines like that...
oops, there I go again - lining myself up for the firing squad... flame suit on!

Nice to re-read this after several years. While married to Margaret he once said that because he wanted the dishwasher loaded HIS way and the laundry done HIS way, he now did both the laundry and the dishwashing himself. What a guy, eh? Too bad that marriage fell apart, too.

Well.......I will be first in the firing squad........what arrogant statements? As far as I could read he was just answering as he saw things....absolutely nothing wrong with that and I did not get the impression he was thinking the world revolved around him one little bit. Quite the opposite in fact. He was 15 years younger in this interview and I thought he spoke intelligently on all subjects raised. His ideas and thoughts will have changed in the ensuing years as I would hope everyone's has......it is called going forward. Certainly there was nothing in this interview to cause me any upset whatsoever.

Yes, I suspect we'd be better friends than partners. 'nuff said. Thanks for your help everyone.
Can anyone tell me in which interview David went into detail regarding his favorite Miami restaurants It isn't the "Afficionado" one. I will come clean soon re why I am asking these questions , if you haven't already guessed. Just getting my FACTS straight currently.

Wow... This interview is beautiful, and very insightful, even if it's fifteen years old. This is amazing stuff. I didn't know DC had always been this eloquent. I love the way he talks and phrases things.

Wow! I'm reading this interview for the first time, now, and it is really very interesting. I can picture DC talking like that, but to decide what's real/what's him and and what's fake/only for the interview is hard to say for me. Of cause he "grew up" until now and I don't think that he would give an interview like this again resp. on this level. But it's a very nice read! Thanks a lot for the efforts to post it again!

oh I certainly would agree he's eloquent although the potty mouth wasn't very appealing (although I could put him under the table if the need arose LOL!). And again, who's to really say what's real and what wasn't - reporters are notorious for 'embellishing'. And 15 years is a long time and I truly hope he's matured. Coming from an Italian background, some of the things said were very reminiscent of old experiences... that's why I said as I did previously. I found the mentioning of the dishwasher deal rather - well - degrading - if I were the female receiving the possible chastising that led to his loading the machine himself... If I were having this discussion with him face to face, that comment would most likely lead to a quirk of my eyebrow and further discussion to 'es-plain' himself. But hey, all the power to him. Not all of us are going to read things the same way - it's one BIG draw back to the impersonal issues behind written word and the Internet - just too easy for things to be lost in the mix... but yeah, fifteen years is a long time and I do hope he's matured - especially for the sake of his two little ones.
OK back to my dungeon...

I think he talked just a 35 year old man with the world all over him would talk. But I didn't see any attitude, and that's a good thing! I really wonder about his upbringing though and the way his family was functioning when he was a kid! I'm sorry because what he says about criminality just starts to be like that here (Greece) as well. It wasn't 15 ys ago, but it is now! People just want to hurt others. It's SO sad! I really liked this interview (passing quickly the questions about NYPD Blue LOL) Anastasia

I suspect that like a lot of people nowadays, that "F Bomb" is used a lot in Hollywood and DC is no exception. On a totally irrelevant note, there once was a list of the "Top 10 F U's " utterred on screen. Can you guess who came in at # 1??? Yes, it was non other than Mr. Caruso whose utterance of that phrase in 'Session 9' was considered tops at the time the list was made. In my humble opinion, it still packs quite a wallop today. A bit of a dubious honor, though, I'd say.

I've read this interview before, but have to comment here. I don't think David has changed at all, except that he's older but wiser now. The arrogance and ego are intact, but better handled with age, experience and humility. It remains an insightful peek inside the person of DC.
