I've always thought that David, his mom and his sister lived in with his grandparents after his parents got divorced, so the story about him being a latchkey-kid is new to me as well. I thought his grandparents were there and raised him and his sister, as mom had to work a fulltime job. Sandra Yeah, that's what I read too. I've read that his dad left the family when he was still very, very young. I think about one year or so... and that he grew up with his grandparents, but uhm..well it's not always correct what you read so I have no idea what is right or wrong. And I certainly don't want to spread any rumors here. More like charing so called "facts" (or rather said facts that no one can give us than David himself in a real interview where you actually witness that he's talking about his childhood.) I hope I didn't step on anyones toes..definitely not my intention. Jess

Mmmm.........I hear what you say Sandra and Jess and accept what you say and I have also read similar articles but I also clearly remember reading something about DC being a latch key kid.......but cannot remember exactly where now.
The fact that he lived with his grandparents may not have meant they were always there when he went home......it may well be that the grandparents worked as well. Grandparents are not always in their dotage and retired. Some people marry young and have young parents as well so it is not impossible they may have worked. Just thinking of possibilties.

Yes, that could have been the 'Cigar Afficianado' article where I read that, too. Also, when he was young, his grandparents were working age and I just assumed they had jobs. It's nice to think that perhaps he did have a grandma to come home to but then the comment about being a latch-key kid seems a touch off. I guess this is why we never really discuss anything relevant about DC as he seems to say whatever he feels like saying and it doesn't always jibe with what he has said previously. My family says I'm like that, too --- remembering stories of growing up and adding different details as the situation warrants. Well, that's what storytellers do --- it keeps the kids on their toes!

Maybe he was a "part-time latchkey kid"....... ;D Some days someone home for him and his sister, some days all adults out working..... Sandra
