Horatio facing a fed or Stetler... Well, at the first sight it looks like Horatio would brush this guy off, but... hmmm... just have look...
Chapter 11
When Horatio approached his guest he had already decided to let the fed make the first step. In a hurry he had sorted the latest information he had got from his colleagues in New York and had thought over the recent steps he and his team had made and what might have been the reason to attract the FBI.
“Sir?”
It was not possible to get a warmer welcome by Horatio when he did not like his guest.
“Lt. Horatio Caine. I guess we’ve never met before. My name is Agent Lucius Honeymaker, FBI, department of organized crime.” Honeymaker’s way of talking was nothing but arrogant.
‘Why the heck do they always believe they’re something better than all their other colleagues?’
Horatio got angry, but did not speak his thoughts out loud. His face showed no emotions when he asked instead:
“Would you mind to explain me your visit, Agent Honeymaker?”
“It would be better to talk in your office… behind closed doors, lieutenant.” The fed made a step towards Horatio’s office and gave Caine no time to decide about another place for a meeting.
As soon as the door closed behind them, Horatio dropped his passiveness and politeness and said in a harsh tone: “I don’t have too much time for civilities. Just say what you want and make it short. I can’t imagine how our paths should have crossed recently.”
“Malcolm O’Neill and Jason Foster,” was everything Honeymaker answered.
“I’m still not able to see how these cases should be of any interest of the FBI!” Horatio gave back.
“O.K., then let’s go into details, Lt. Caine. – And this will take some time and I’m quite sure at the end of our talk you will agree with me that it was worth listening and being patient.”
“You’re sure about that?” Stella asked Mac.
One could see how the different information worked on Mac.
“Calleigh Duquesne, a team-member of Horatio, had just sent over the data of the bullet. There’s no doubt about it: the rifle has already been used in another cold case of murder… in New York City.”
“And it was also Horatio who’d investigated this one?”
“He was…,” Mac answered tired. “It’s more than 25 years ago and it seems as if it was one of the first cases Horatio was ordered to investigate. d**n hard thing to do for a rookie on this job and he wasn’t successful, either.”
“Do we know something about the involved persons?” Stella got the feeling that there had something happened which was hard to stand for Mac.
“Well, there had been members of the Jarhead-gang involved, but this doesn’t make it that difficult. It’s more the fact that…” he paused “…Horatio’s father… - was member of the Jarheads.”
