Sharon Caine: "48 Hours to Life" was the name of the episode referred to last night. It's the one where Frank arrested the wrong guy, he was found guilty, sent to prison and killed his cell-mate in self-defense. It was so good that they remembered a past episode --- it gives continuity to the over-all storyline and credibility to Salazar. I hope they do more of that.
I liked how this episode turned out: aging gang members were having trouble getting young recruits because a community pastor not only talked-the-talk but also walked-the-walk and was turning lives around. At first I thought perhaps he had a hidden agenda and wasn't the nice guy he was made out to be and I am glad TPTB did not go that direction.
I really liked Natalia's storyline and how she handled it. That moment at the end was something we always look for and so seldom see ---- human contact with Horatio, no matter how brief; it was wonderful.
Everyone had their "moment in the sun" last night and it was great to see them all working together --- even Valera made the most of her few seconds (finally her hair style is behaving itself).
I was reminded of other episodes, too, like "Hurricane Anthony" where Horatio bent over a dieing man and the episode (can't bring up title) where the community banded together to rebuild the grocer's store. When Yolanda got her check for $1,000.00 and told Horatio she might spend it buying computers for the youth center, I did wonder how far that money would go ---- one computer, perhaps.
Usually the electronic devices are so over my head that they seem unbelievable (I know they all are working products). Last night's "bowling ball camera" was a hoot. That was just great and I found myself hoping that my soldier son has access to something like that.
On the down side --- this is the last new episode until next year.
And speaking of "talking-the-talk and walking-the-walk" that also applied to Horatio last night. He just did a wonderful job on this one.
