In the words of
Captain Jack Sparrow, "Complications arose, ensued, were overcome...".
I've finally got another chapter to this story done for you guys. I am also working on the next chapter as we speak, and that should be up soon as well.
Enjoy!
Chapter 5 -- More Then a MemoryThings hadn't been good for her over the last couple of years. She'd ended up sleeping with another Detective, who at the time was married and having problems within that arrangement. It did not bother her that she was married at the time as well, as she'd long decided that it was not worth considering herself so. Especially when that man happened to beat her on occassion when things did not go his way or when she seemed out of line.
But that part of her life was over. There was nothing more to it except for finding the man that she'd met and fallen so hard for.

Horatio stood outside of the room, his mind racing trying to make sense of the situation. He did not want to scare her by just walking into the room. But there wasn't much of a choice in that. She was in trouble, and he felt compelled to help her.
Despite their history.
Eventually moving closer to the door he adjusted his gun and his badge, slightly. As if to hide the fact that he was nervous about this meeting. But he knew that this had to be done and that he needed to get her out of it.
Heading into the room finally, he stood by the door. Watching her, not sure that he wanted to say anything. And further, he really didn't know what to say. It had been so long since he had seen her.
He cleared his throat slightly.
Laci turned to look at him. Though, speechless. Having never thought that she could find him this fast. Nor did she ever imagine him finding her. From what she saw it wasn't that big of a building so she knew that it wouldn't be long. She figured that they would have at least gone through all of the motions in order to charge her for shoplifting.
Which, was rather foolish on her part. She smiled at him, softly. But made no move from where she was at. Expecting him to charge her or something since she had been left in the room, still handcuffed.
"Juliet..." He said, softly.
She watched him. "Are you going to charge me or at least let me out of these God awful handcuffs?" She asked.
He looked at her not moving for a moment before turning and opening the door. Speaking with the officer outside of the door he got the keys and proceeded to walk over to her himself.
She held her cuffed hands out in front of her. "I didn't expect to find you." She commented.
Horatio didn't look at her right away as he moved to unlock the handcuffs. "I would have thought that you were smarter then this. Why shoplift? I'm not that hard to find." He answered. Getting the cuffs off he moved to set them and the keys on the table. Before motioning for her to sit down. His emotions were running high, and he wanted to do things-- which were not appropriate for the workplace.
He stood on the other side of the table in front of her. "So, you shoplifted a bracelet, which, from what I understand you could afford." He picked up the plastic ziplock that it had been put into.
Laci looked at him. "I had to," She started. Looking for all the world like she might cry. "I needed to find you."
"Pretty bracelet. You have taste, I'll give you that." He said. Caine wasn't ignoring her, he was trying to make sense of the situation. Wanted to help her, even if what she had done was pretty stupid to begin with.
She was confused. Thought that all he wanted was her, and here she was-- for him. "I suppose I deserved that..." She answered, looking away from him.
"Does your husband know you're in Miami?" He asked.
Laci laughed. "Unless he's got a way to get to me somehow from Heaven or Hell... or whatever, I rather doubt it." She answered. Looking at him, as he clearly didn't know.
Horatio raised an eyebrow. Moving to sit down at the table, setting his sunglasses down onto the table first. "Why don't you tell me what happened. And then I'll see about getting this shoplifting charge lifted." He said. Wanting to hear what happened.
