I hope that I can write my chapter tonight. I have to take medication and the direction state do not drive or leave your home after taking. I am going to put my information about my day in 'negetive things'. If you want a good laugh first read my positive of yesterday then the negetive of today.

The boot I have to wear waights at least 3 lbs and I have to use crutches. What a pain in the a--. But the good news is that I was able to get a chapter out. so enjoy.
Chapter FOUR
As they pulled off the curb again the bouncing of the Hummer caused Horatio’s back to give him another reminder that he needed to call Jonesy.
Ellen was watching him out of the corner of her eye and saw his face give an involuntarily twitch. She turned her head towards him and after giving him the address to where her daughter was she asked. “How did you hurt your back?”
Horatio was taken by surprise by her question and that wasn’t an easy thing for someone to do. “What makes you think that I have an injury?” He had his guard up as he asked his question.
Ellen smiled at him. He was just like Justin had been. If you don’t admit you hurt, you won’t. “My late husband had a back injury and he would do the same thing that you are doing. I got use to the tell tell signs and you just did one. Are you seeing someone about it?”
Horatio thought his answer over before he spoke. “Yes. He is a long time friend and I trust him not to report it back to the office.”
She knew what he was saying was yes and don’t tell anyone what you know. “When we get to my house if you trust me enough I can do for you what I use to do for Justin. It will help you get through the day before you go see your friend. It is the least I can do for your kindness in taking me to pick up Josephine.” This was said just as they pulled up to the location where the child was being watched.
Horatio turned to her and told her he would go to the door as she shouldn’t walk anymore than she had too. He then got out and walked to the door. When the sitter came to the door he showed his badge and explained that Ellen had hurt her foot and he was taking her home from her job. He then stepped back so that the sitter could see Ellen sitting in the Hummer. The sitter looked at Ellen in the big vehicle and then went inside and got the child. “Will Ms. Ellen be alright?” The sitter’s Spanish accent was very heavy and Horatio could tell she had not been in the country for very many years.
When the sitter returned with Josephine he replied to her in Spanish. “Ms. Jackson will be fine. She will be at home for a few days. She will let you know when she is returning to work.”
The woman looked at the child with much affection then at Horatio and said in Spanish. “This one is no trouble and I will be here when Ms. Ellen needs me again.” Placing the child in Horatio’s arms she bent over and gave her a kiss. The child stirred slightly and then settled against Horatio with a smile on her face. “She knows that you are a good man and that you are a protector of people.” The woman looked into Horatio’s face and told him. “I too know that you are a protector of people and that you will not let harm come to those who are within your sphere of protection. You will be good for Ms. Ellen.” With that she backed into the house and closed the door.
He took the child to her mother. When he opened the passenger door he looked at Ellen. “I have disengaged the air bag on your side and because we do not have a child seat I will let you hold your daughter and I will adjust the seatbelt so that it will give some support.” He then put the sleeping child in Ellen’s arms. He adjusted the seatbelt and then closed the door and went around and got in. As he turned the key he looked at the little girl and smiled. He thought; yes, this little innocent child is the reason that I do what I do. To protect all the innocent and bring those to justice that sought to harm them.
Ellen had given him her address and it wasn’t but a few blocks away. “Do you have cereal and milk for breakfast for your family?” To which Ellen said yes after she thought about it for a moment.
When they got to her house Horatio got out first and went around and helped Ellen out. “Lean on me for support.” He told her as she started to walk towards the small stucco house. She did as he had told her and leaned heavily on his arm. She felt him put his other arm around her for support as well.
As they walked into the back door that lead into the kitchen Horatio was shocked to see a sink full of dishes and the remains of the evening meal still on the table. Before he could say a word an older woman came into the kitchen from the other door. She looked at Ellen and Horatio and made assumptions that were not true.
“You are late.” She then looked at Horatio and added. “I told you when you moved in here after my son died that if you brought a man in my house you would have to leave and I meant what I said. So don’t even stop in here just turn around and take yourself out the way you came. Josephine can stay, but you and your friend are not welcome.” She started to take the child from her mother but Horatio stepped between her and Ellen.
“Ms. Jackson was injured tonight at the diner. I am one of the officer’s that responded to the robbery that took place and I brought Ms. Jackson home.” He had put his left hand on his hip pushing his jacket back to reveal his badge.
The woman stopped and looked at him and then at his badge. She then took a step back. “You might be a cop but that I seen how you were holding her and I don’t believe you were just bringing her home you expect to be paid by a toss between the sheets. I have news for you there ain’t going to be any payment like that around here.”
Horatio turned to Ellen and asked? “Do you have other children here?” He was just able to keep his voice from showing his anger.
“No, Josephine is my only child.”
Horatio made a decision and turned back to the woman and with a hardness in his voice that Ellen had not heard before he told the woman. “There is no payment expected by me, but Ms. Jackson will be leaving and someone will return to gather her belongings later.” Before either woman could say anything he took Ellen by the arm and led her back out the door. Neither he nor Ellen spoke until they were back in the Hummer.
When Horatio had closed his door of the Hummer he grasped the wheel with both hands as if he were going to strangle it. He didn’t look at Ellen when to spoke. “I know a women’s shelter you can stay at. It doesn’t open for new business for a few hours so I will take you to breakfast and then we will get you settled in there.”

You guys make me laugh. Though I must admit I myself wouldn't mind paying H a bill in the same manner. Here is the next chapter I think H is painting himself into a corner. But it isn't going to be a bad corner. Enjoy (I know you will)
Chapter FIVE
Horatio took them to small diner that wasn’t far from the women’s shelter that he was planning to take them too. The food wasn’t bad nor was the company. During the meal Josephine woke up and Ellen got a bottle out of the bag that the sitter had given Horatio when he picked her up.
Josephine had brown hair and green eyes just like her mother. As she took her bottle from her mother her green eyes were fixed on Horatio. It was as if he had hypnotized her. She couldn’t take her eyes off of him.
After a few minutes Ellen began to giggle at her daughter. “She is fascinated by your hair color. She has also been attracted to red and your hair color has captivated her.”
Horatio smiled and took a sip of his coffee. The child was sitting in the circular booth between her mother and Horatio, when he reached for his toast Josephine put her hand on his and gave a tug. “Oh, you want something more than a bottle do you?” He looked at Ellen and continued. “Will it be alright to give her some toast and jelly?” He knew that some people didn’t feed children sugar until they were a little older.
Ellen smiled at the fact that he had asked her before giving the child anything. “She eats off my plate all the time. But be sure it is only about a quarter slice anymore than that will be too much sugar.”
Horatio took a half slice of toast and put strawberry jelly on it then cut in half and gave Josephine half and took a bite of the other half himself. He rolled his eyes at the child and smiled as if to say ‘boy this is good’. The little girl giggled at him and she too took a bite of the toast.
Ellen took a bite of her omelet and a sip of her coffee as she watched this man who she had only just met but felt she could trust him with her most precious treasure, Josephine; as well as her own life. “She likes you. It isn’t often that she takes to someone so quickly. You must be a good father to your own children.”
The look that came to Horatio’s face was one of sadness and he quickly tried to hide his feeling. “I don’t have any children. My wife died before we had time to start a family.” He looked down at Josephine just as she stood up and threw herself into his arms squealing. “Dada!”
Ellen burst out laughing at the look on his face. It was one of shocked surprise. Then it turned to one of pleasure as he enfolded the child in his arms and hugged her to him. “No, sweet heart; I’m not your Dada.”
Ellen then told Horatio that Josephine was 19 months old and had not said Dada to anyone. Her father had died in a Marine training exercise just after her first birthday. There had been some type of mix-up in the government bureaucracy of paper and her widow benefits had not been started yet that was why she had been living with Leon’s family. George was an old high school friend of her late husband’s and had given her a job but it wasn’t enough to pay rent. All of her family lived in California and they were not in any position to help her.
Horatio pulled out his cell phone and dialed the number to the women’s shelter. “Janet, hi this is Horatio Caine. I have a lady and her daughter that need to a place to stay for awhile do you have a room?” He paused as he listened to the person on the other end. Ellen could tell that what ever the lady on the other end of the connection was saying wasn’t what Horatio wanted to hear. “Would you happen to have any suggestions for my friend?” A short pause then he replied with a smile. “Thanks Janet, I will figure something out.” He hung up the phone and put it in his pocket.
He looked down at the table then looked at Ellen. His lips were pressed together and it appeared that he was biting on his lower lip. He tilted his head and his head and asked her. “How do you feel about camping at a stranger’s house for about a week?”
She looked at him a minute before she answered. “It would depend on who the stranger was.”
“Janet said that she would have a room for you and your daughter in about a week. She then suggested that I put you up at my place in the mean time. That would not look very good to some people. I on the other hand I have a female officer, Natalia Boa Vista; that I can ask to put you up. She herself has had to use a woman’s shelter in her past. So I know that it would not be something that would be out of the question for her to be asked to do. I was going to ask her to go over and gather your things up this evening.” He watched her as she thought this over.
She played with the food on her plate for a moment then looked at him. “I like to pay my own way. So if I stay with your officer would she allow me to clean and cook for her while I stay there?”
“So I take it that is a yes?” He asked her and she nodded and smiled at him. “That leaves me with where to put you up until Ms. Boa Vista gets off work.” He was pondering the problem when his phone went off. He held up a finger as he answered it. “Caine here.” He listened to the person on the other end. “Oh kay, I will be at the lab in 45 minutes.” He hung up the phone. “It would appear that I have a problem at the lab so I am going to take you to my place for the day and then I will have some arrangements made before this evening when I am off shift.”
Horatio paid for the meal and when they went out to get in the Hummer he looked around and saw a children’s store across the street. “Wait here a minute.” He opened the door of the Hummer for Ellen and then went across the street. He was back within 20 minutes. He had a car seat and a package of disposable diapers. He opened the back door and installed the car seat for Josephine. Then he stepped back as Ellen put her in it. They both got back in the Hummer and Horatio took them to his place. As he started out the door he turned to Ellen and said. “You are under Dr. Woods’ orders to stay off that foot.” Then as an after thought he went into his bedroom and brought back some bandages and antiseptic, he put them on the kitchen counter. “So you can change your bandage sometime this afternoon.” He then hurried out the door.
